I've got a bunch of news for you, so I thought this warrants a small update.
Team Changes
We have some important changes in the moderator team. It is with a heavy heart that I must tell you that Len and Derek, Radamus and Supermario55, are leaving the moderators' squad. It makes me very sad to see you guys go, I hope you had some fun memories from your time here and that we'll remain friends. Len and Derek will have access to the mod forum until the end of the week, so we all have a chance to say a proper good bye.
On a brighter note, we have a new moderator - Tanngnjostr has kindly accepted my offer to join the team! I am sure you will do a great job Marc, very happy to have you! Please tell us a bit more about yourself here and if you have any questions - ask away.
News from the EW
I also want to give you some insight into what's been going on with the EW team in the last year. It is all of course a top secret, even the beta team members are now aware of the details, so I trust in your discretion. I do believe in transparency and I hope that knowing what has been happening with the company internally, will help you to gain a better understanding of what has been influencing theHunter development.
To put it bluntly, the things at the EW haven't been good for about a year now. Back in March we lost almost all of our senior team members to another project. In addition to that, our parent company (Avalanche Studios) got hit by lay-offs with the EW team having suffered tremendously. Not only did we lose a lot of good people but the morale amongst those who remained was not great to put it mildly. Working in circumstances like that hasn't been easy for anyone, including myself, but I won't go into too much detail on that one. This of course has influenced the quality of the product. I'm telling you this not to find an excuse for the failed Whiterime Ridge release and other stuff, but to give you some perspective.
Anyway, with our new Executive Producer Anna now on board and other internal changes I can't yet disclose, things are looking much brighter now and for the first time in a long time I'm actually feeling hopeful about the game, the company and the community. I'm going to try to push for more transparency when it comes to communication with the community, as well as improving existing content and fixing bugs which I think this game needs desperately and I hope that my pleas will be heard
Forum atmosphere
I've noticed an increased number of toxic users lately in the forum, so I've updated our Toxic Users thread and I would like to ask you to be more proactive when it comes to moderating threads that derail and get soaked in negativity, flexing sarcasm muscles and similar. If you're not sure whether something should be moderated, raise a question here and we'll all discuss it and take a joint decision.
Another thing; if a moderator makes a post in a toxic thread, this sort of automatically approves what's happening there and sends a signal that the tone, attitude and prior posts are acceptable. That's why I'm also asking you to be mindful of where and what you post, because everyone looks up to you. You're setting an example to the community, and this is not always a light burden to carry.
I also feel that the amount of work at the forums right now calls for getting another moderator on board, so if you have someone in mind, please let me know.
Thank you for your work and everything you do for this game and community.
Alena
