Moderation Team December 2015

Post by Alena Rybik »

Hello everyone,

Small update from this part of the world.

I've added you your em$ for the last two months. Some of you already have so many em$ that I am not sure we'll ever be able to release enough content for you to spend those on, so maybe next year we'll discuss other reward alternatives.

Thank you for this year. The majority of you have been theHunter mods when I wrote a similar post one year ago, this is amazing and I am so humbled by this. I know that several of you have had some serious real life hardships this year and nevertheless I would see your orange name popping up now and then. It filled me with gratitude and appreciation. I believe we need this forum in the same way it needs us.

This year hasn't been easy for the forum, and for you, and for myself as well. I can only say that I hope that the next one will be better :) And that you can always count on me.

Merry Christmas and Happy holidays!

Picture coming soon :)

Thanks for the update, Em$ and nice words.

The last year has been pretty rough for me at a personal level, but we're ok now, for the time being.
I would like to express my gratitude to you Alena and my fellow mods.
Thanks for being on this great team, for your patience and for backing me up when needed.

Alena, I don't envy you when it comes to the job you were expected to do last year.
As said on another thread, this is my only forum I'm active on, so I have nothing to refer to; but I know that whatever happens on other forums, we've had a few nasty months. And that goes not for the forum alone, but for the whole game.
Thank you for what you have done so far - makes you a great boss.

Another question: will there be absolutely no one at the office during the holidays? I remember a few not so nice situations where that caused some problems (server outages).

Anyway, don't forget the pic - enjoy Xmas and the holidays!

There will be some people, our backend guy Calle will be working for example. If a server outage happens, please feel free to send me, him and Daniel a PM. The only thing is that I will be in a cabin up north the whole next week, with no Internet, so there better be no outages next week

Thanks for the Christmas present! and I don't foresee a time when I can't find something to spend $EM on - I thought I'd be set for a long time after winning David's last comp but alas - I was down to my last $6  I blame the new ducks, and now I can get the rest of the decoys YAY! Of course, this is just a money grab because according to Tony I don't even need a caller much less decoys right? ;)

I had a kind of crappy year but could've been worse. When I ended up in the hospital in August it was just a thing where I hadn't felt good for a while. In reality I wasn't far from leaving this world for good according to my doctors I had about a week left if I hadn't caved in to my manliness and made an appointment. Honestly, it's still kind of scary how close I was to messing up real bad trying to be a tough guy. So, if you don't feel good, go find out why! take it from me. And that is what I did for vacation this year

Wishing a happy holiday to everyone! And yes, 2016 will be better! right up till the next new reserve that's rushed out too soon.

Merry Christmas, everyone.

The em are a token of appreciation, and I gratefully take them that way. I don't really need them, but they're appreciated. Thanks

It certainly was challenging. Although I seem to remember last year being worse as far as really nasty members goes...?
This year was mostly disgruntled players frustrated with the state of the game.
It's a real challenge to admonish someone for saying something you agree with. There were many times when I had to walk away & come back later to handle things objectively.

All in all, I think the entire mod staff did a great job this year. We leaned on each other when necessary, and had each other's back.

Alena, enjoy your week away from civilization, and the rest of the holiday.

Be Well
It's "Tod", with one bloody 'd'!

This is how I feel too. I don't do this for the em$. :)

This year has been incredibly hard for me. You haven't heard even the half of it. :) And yes, when I can, it's enjoyable to be able to pop on here and still get some stuff done, and gives a feeling of helpful purpose.

Stay awesome, and Happy Holidays to everyone.

Thank you for the EM$ Alena!

Very rough start to the year for me but thankfully everything is working out really well right now! Still pulling lots of hours at work and it's always nice to hop in and get stuff done when I can.

Hope everyone enjoys the holidays.

Hi all, thank you for watching this space during my absence, judgging by your activity in the moderation forum, we didn't have too many troubles, good! I agree with you Tod, we've been significantly fewer troublemakers in the last months and even last year. I am not sure what the defintie reason is - stricter modertion? People learned what is allowed and what not? Troublemakers just left the game alltogether? But whatever the reason is, good for us and we can pat ourselves on the backs.

Right now I am preparing the report on the forum and going through all the threads that have been active during the holidays and I just wanted to check something with you, who were much more present on the forums during that time than myself. In your opinion, what were the biggest conversational points of conversation from December 18 until now? What were community's most common complaints / positive things / popular topics?

On another note, how was everyone's Christmas and New Year's? Any stories or maybe even pictures to share with us? We spent one week over Christmas in a nice little cabin in the north of Sweden with our cat (hoping for some snow, but even there it was hopeless). We came back for New Year's to Stockholm and hosted a little quiz party for folks from Expansive Worlds and Avalanche - everyone was supposed to make a quiz for everyone else. I made two - on movies and untranslatable words, and David made a tough qeeky one. I can share them with you if you want to try yourself out ;)
