Back straps anyone?

Post by BearJohnson »

I think that harvested MEAT should be tracked.
"What's in the freezer?"
after all, we have competitions for heaviest this or that.

Also, how's about a telephoto lens camera - long range pics...

I reckon we should be able to use harvested meat to at least make pet food; which we can give to our dogs.

That's what livers are for. Dogs NO NOT get backstraps!!! :D

I slice the liver & put it in the dehydrator. The dogs go nuts over it, and it lasts a long time in the fridge.

Pet food?!?!? You have never had the joy of backstraps or loin then! I will drag out the grill in the dead of winter for backstraps! Hing quarters are for steaks, neck for the grinder to make sausage. The dogs get the forelegs (so much silverskin on them they aint worth the work) and the offal. some people love the liver & heart, not this kid. I didnt eat liver as a kid & I still dont!

Feeding dogs meat is great, much better than the carb-filled kibble they sell you in stores. BUT, liver as a staple is bad--just as a headsup for anyone reading this, too much can make them sick. As a treat it's fine, but not too much or too often. Offal and muscle meat is great, organs are great, livers give in smaller doses. Likewise eggs--better cooked than raw, or they can create iirc a biotin deficiency by messing with digestion/absorption of nutrients. I think liver was vitamin A toxicity.

Indeed. Treats only. Coincidentally, our last dog was on a venison & sweet potato diet.
