TreeKiwi wrote:Alright,

I have some more information for everyone! :)

First off, I would like to address a few the comments about Bethany being less visible than our previous producer Alena. We had a super rare situation with Alena, as she had been a Community Manager before she became Producer. Needless to say, that role comes with unrivaled communication skills and experience – above and beyond what is expected of any producer.

That said, we understand that quick and direct communication has become one of the things that makes this community so special, and we want to make sure to keep it going. To that end, Graham and I will spend more time with you, posting updates, answering questions and taking part in discussions. This frees up Beth’s time for what she does best, which is to produce this amazing game! She will still be checking in, but will let us take the lead here, which we very much look forward to! There has been some lag in communication while we all got settled back in after the holidays, but this won’t be the case going forward :)

Sambar Deer.
Regarding the Sambar Deer, our game designer Patrick is currently tweaking its score value as well as its health values. The health values can be expected to be slightly lower making the animal easier to kill. The score values are a bit more tricky and will need more time before properly nailed on the head.

WRR sound issues.
We are working on a more permanent fix, not just a band aid approach. This is nearly done and is due for testing soon, Sorry for the inconvenience it is creating.

The Bears spooking.
This is actually how they were suppose to be at the start, what was happening was that they were stuck in angry mode, which is why you could get so close to them. There was no 'cautious' mode and they either stood their ground and charged you or ran. But we hear you loud and clear and agree they shouldn't be so spooky, so we are going through each species and tweaking them to make them more true to life.

As for me, I am sorry for creating some drama. I didn't mean to and I have contacted the person affected to make sure I hadn't offended him - I was pleased to hear that I hadn't. Going forward, I will keep my personal opinions mostly out of discussions. I am still very passionate about the game, and always will be. But on reflection I can see how getting too involved can make things messy. Just to be clear: I don't intend to push my own agenda, I don't even have one and everything I do is motivated by what I feel is best for the game as a whole.

Cheers all, and I am excited to ride 2018 with you guys and gals :)

TK

Great news. Thank you, TreeKiwi. And I appologise again, if I offended you. I realy think you are the right guy on the right place.

On the Sambar - I don't think that problems lies in health, but more in hitboxes. When double-lung shot is somehow achieved, it dies as any other deer. Problem lies in the fact that it is ridiculously hard to penetrate deep enough with almost all allowed weapons. When it comes to scores, so antlers, I think that antlers's 3d models could be redesigned (more for Rusa, actually), but I guess it is too late for that. ;)

Thanks again, and best wishes! :)

Thanks alot for precious info. About bears, now they are too much spooked, with grizzlies it's no longer possible approach them. At 100 mt they flee away, the behaviour of grizzlies in real world that's not. There need rebalance this behaviour. Of course as it was before, when they were stuck in very angry and aggressive mode, it was much more fun for me  and to be honest, right now this isn't how I do fun anymore.

I don't know. I don't see anything wrong with Grizzlies spooking easily. Sure they've got a reputation with most people as being extremely aggressive, but they also have a reputation with hunters as being extremely wary, smart animals. As soon as they know there is a human nearby, they are generally out of there as fast as they can go.

If you'll excuse me, I've got a little experience with grizzly bears in this game. In a month at least, their behaviour is greatly changed.

He never said they didn't change? He dropped his opinion that he would like them to be more skittish than they were

Griz bears are still acting like androgynous wallflower wimps - almost as bad as the pansy black bears. If a griz sees or smells you, he's thinking you'd be great on the barbie and he will come to you. We have beef cattle that are more aggressive than man eating predators~

Don't know about grizzlys, but there's no joking with polars. Met them in Spitzbergen, they are actually hunting people there. Every now and then, someone gets jumped from behind, killed with a quick bite into the skull. And ingame, they were a bit like that and I really liked it.

I haven't been very active in the forums lately & when I am here I don't read too many of the threads completely, but, after reading this whole thread I'm chuckling at how spoiled Alena's child is going to be.
I wonder how long she trolled the forums to get a feel for what it was going to take to bring it all together. None of us know that. It would be easy to go through her posts & she the progression of things but, we still wouldn't know when she first started to check the forums.
She did a great job & I think, from all of the gushing comments when she left, that a lot of people agree with that. Now that she isn't here I, personally, don't think we should expect the same treatment from her replacement RIGHT AWAY!!!
I expect a learning curve will take affect. I don't expect the same treatment, from either side (player or staff) that we had a few months ago. But I do expect it to gel in the near future. Easily I could be wrong but I could also easily be right. It's a wait & see thing.
I don't know all of the tasks assigned to any of the staffers, I do imagine that there was a little shake-up when she left - meaning that some of the things on her plate were distributed among a few of them instead of plopped on one persons lap. Our part of that process hasn't changed - playing the game. Some of the aspects of the game may have been tweaked lately, but "playing the game" is our part. Being happy with 100% of the game is not guaranteed, but neither is being happy with 100% of anything else in our lives. Coming to the forums to express our likes & dislikes is a great tool for them & ourselves to use, but, just like any tool, there is a learning curve to be expected.
Back to my opening line, Alena spoiled us. But it didn't happen overnight. She came in hard then eased her way in to being more approachable. For crying out loud, she kept pulse of things on her weekends - that alone wasn't an overnight thing - OR anything we should have expected from her & I damn sure don't expect it from her replacements.

Oh, & by the way, Thanks for the update. 8-)

Like Kevin said, I'm not saying that I haven't noticed a change, I'm just saying that it's not necessarily a bad change. Yeah, grizzlies are aggressive and they should be portrayed as that in the game. I just don't think that every single bear should be out to turn you in to dinner. Up in Alaska they have a saying called the 20th bear. It means that you may see a lot of bears that are going to give you all the space that they can, but there's always going to be the occasional bear that's got a mood problem. I would like to see something like that. Don't turn the grizzlies into bison because it just doesn't seem realistic. Just my 2 cents though :)
