This is very sad news Alena, but I know you're making a decision that is right for you, so I'm glad for you, and wish you the best as always. Please keep in touch and... stay awesome. :)

For the forum quiz: I actually got all of them correct. I was almost tripped up by the third one - about "this isn't marriage", but I came to the same conclusion that the explanation did, which was that even if it was inflammatory, it was using both the common language of people who believe that stuff, that the article itself was about the criticism of gay marriage, and that ethically, I should try and remain neutral and let the conversation flow as long as it was not becoming acutely toxic (which admittedly I could see possible responses becoming toxic). Also the fifth one, which I was initially very hesitant to approve because of what I felt was a misogynistic bias, but then realized they were not singling out anyone, and the "obsession" comment isn't particularly disparaging.

It was an interesting quiz - it really made me feel like my "let people constructively vent, use an almost invisibly light touch until obvious violations occur, then come down hard" approach to moderation style was right.
Thank you :)

I did trip on the third one, as the majority of us here. It was a tricky one, but after having read the clarification, I agreed with the reasoning that it should have been approved but "watched" as we say here.

Sad to see you go. Was a great time and i will miss you dearly :(
I will miss you dearly too Danielle, you are truly one of a kind :)
Tanngnjostr wrote: Sad to hear that you're leaving, Alena. I wish you all the best for your new job - I'm curious to hear what you'll be doing. Promise to drop by regularly and be there for a MP game every now and then. We'll enjoy the last months with you as our boss. Right now I can't imagine the forum without you, but of course we'll give the new community manager a fair chance... ;)

Staying on topic, I had my last day in the office today. I'm happy to be leaving the old job to be honest, the last months were a pain - I'll never work in public administration again, NEVER! On Tuesday I will start my new job as a psychotherapist at a neat little hospital and I'm really excited about it. Wish me a good start... :)
I am planning to remain active on the forum and play the game. Who knows, maybe when it's not my job I will actually enjoy it more. And this community is far too addictive to drop it alltogether. Especially when David's everyday routine involves spending a couple of hours on the forum ;)

I am leaving the gaming industry, at least for now. My new title will be Global Customer Success Manager for a software company, and I will be taking care of, well, customers succeeding at using our product and enjoying it. Similar to what I've done here, but a broader range of responsiblities and well, a bit different audience ;)

Good luck on the new job Marc, it always cool to start a new chapter in your life! I can't even imagine what it is to work in public administration in Germany - it must be hell. Keep us updated how the new gig goes ;)

Accidental translation error, or intentional humility?? We have a "great" community manager ;) I hope we get another one. We'll miss you :)
Let us know where you end up. If it's another community, we may just join to heckle you ;)
Accidental error :D I actually do think I have done a pretty good job here, considering all the cisrumstances. But I feel that the community and the job itself has taken its toll on me, and I think that theHunter will benefit more from someone with fresh ideas, lots of passion and creativity.

And yeah, you all have to promise me that ronMctube will never come back to the forum :)
Tanngnjostr wrote:So we're not only losing Alena, we'll also be getting Ron back? _poopoo! (That's French, Ron.)
caledonianblues wrote:We both have a soft spot for theHunter, given that this was where we met and first started talking (she totally made the first move and I still have the private messages to prove it).
Hmmm... was it like "Mr. Caledonianblues, you look like a handsome furry something in the forum and I like your comps and raffles - how about taking me out for a cookie and a milkshake?" I always imagined you had met Alena in EW's office because you had to help them out with some programming task.
Nah, he actually moved here because of me, or better to say our relationship :D When I started at theHunter back in January 2014 David was still living in UK. Then we started talking and despite of a couple of David's questionable jokes, I liked his donkey picture. And then ... you know. But that's a conversation for when you all come over to Stockholm and we sit down with a couple of Pilsners ;) Anyone would be up to it?

I need to win the lottery first.
two trips to Sweden and one to America.

Alena wants to drink some Beer, Dennis wants me to visit EW and become his underling and Tundra wants to host a Barbeque Party...
a student like me has not enough money for these trips :(

Feedback on my work as a moderator is always welcome!

I loved that picture!! We're still planning on taking a "Mother-land" trip (Ireland, Sweden). No idea when, but if we're still in contact I'm looking you guys up. Although I tend to like darker, chewier beers :D
It's "Tod", with one bloody 'd'!

Whatever product that is, I'll buy it! :)

Without any doubt, but we'll bring proper beer bought at a reasonable price! ;) Juliane and I want to visit Stockholm as soon as possible. We were actually considering going this year after Christmas and spending New Year's Eve there, but we're not decided yet and that's probably a bad time to meet since everyone is so busy during those days. But we could try if you want to!

We're planning to spend Christmas in Scotland this year, but nothing is set in stone yet. Even if we do, we will be back home for New Year and had planned to throw a party. So if you guys decide to come over, we would make you guys feel very welcome. You would also get to meet some of the devs as many will no doubt be invited. Last year we threw a party and lots of them showed up. It was a fun and very late evening.

Well Alena, I wish you all the best when you make the move; I will miss your common sense and your peace making skills. I hope your new job will allow you to fulfil yourself.

I hope your successor is as good as you have been both to me as a player and a moderator on Steam but also is as good as you have been to the larger community.

Here's to you both - (he said, enjoying a very questionable but very chewy dark beer.) Skol, slainte, cheers!!!

Welp, this came out of nowhere. I do hope this is a step up for you Alena and wish you the best. I would also like to nominate Ronmcnoob for the new Community manager, he would be the best replacement IMO, with his insight to shoot in the air to call in ducks, and his charisma the whole community would benefit from this. Heck, while were on the topic why not make him dictator of EW?! :D :)
