Welcome back. Glad you had a nice time.

Hot topics: Cheating, bugs, unfair holiday event, bugs, stats & skills not updating, bugs, hit detection, bugs.... ;)

I tested a theory to answer a topic about spotting credit when harvesting an animal. I harvested 2 Bison without ever spotting them & got the popup that my skill increased.
8 days later the skill updated on the website / launcher.

I wanna see the tough, geeky one. :D

Welcome back. Nice picture :P

I had a nice and calm Christmas/NewYear eve.

Regarding the difficulties in the periode, - things is mentioned allready above. The problem I heard most nagging about was the web not opdating and hit detecting was not working correctly and the Christmas Event was a mess... I didnt, myself, - have those problems in any significant way, -- but I read about in on the Forum.

Welcome back number one! Hope yours and everyone's holidays were great. All went fine here, abnormally warm weather but that's ok. Today we woke up to a few inches of snow, howling arctic winds and a falling thermometer. Santa left me a jumbo bottle of 1800 Silver under the tree~ it's been a blur since! ~ ok, not really that's the dreamer in me :D but I did crack it open last night.

Forum overall, I agree looking over the year. It was a lot worse prior to your announcement of a change in direction and stricter moderating. Sure some of those are gone, yet quite a number still here with much better self control, rifleman and Honeywest even the reformed Lem/LM182 as examples. I enjoy seeing the occasional comments about the friendliness of the community. It makes me wonder if we would have seen those a year ago.

Holiday event, well it's all been said. It wasn't that bad during your absence. I think plenty of latitude was allowed, especially during the period of connection issues. I wasn't affected, it was crazy spotty globally and fortunately didn't last long. The ______ and ______ lasted longer than the actual issue did (this is a build your own sentence-insert what works for you).
The one thing that really brought out the frustration was the airborne pheasant w/pellet rifle.
Most of the complaining I think was the newer people, ones who hadn't been through these before. I know, I was one of them too when I didn't understand how it worked. That's a learning curve for the first timers.

Overall, game bugs and goofy issues are the rule of the day more than anything someone might say on the forum.

On a personal note, my wife had some surgery on friday, a joint replacement in her hand (thumb) so she's a one armed rascal right now and I am a servant, hand and foot. I think she's enjoying it immensely but hey, I'm just awesome, what can I say. It's not been too hard though, she's got some pretty awesome meds she has to take so sleeping a lot. I told her I love her even more when she's sleeping, she's at her best then  ..... truthfully, I'm looking forward to going to work  her sister is coming tomorrow to stay with us so she can be here during the day and take the load off a little bit.

OK, best to all and keep warm! Well, for those of us in the higher latitudes.

Thanks guys, pretty much what I was thinking myself. What is your personal impression, have there been more people cheating lately? I know that waiora can exaggerate a bit sometimes.

@Tod: Can you please post a link to a thread where this spotting bug is discussed, thanks!

Here is the link to David's quiz (no googling, of course ;)): http://www.uhcapps.co.uk/quiz/david/

@Len: Hope your wife's hand will heal soon and she will release you from under the yoke ;)

RE: The cheating- Yes, bunch of people trying that one cheat prog shooting all these animals really close in short periods of time. It's quite obvious looking at the hunt sheets and there should be no hesitation taken with these folks. Waiora said he's been reporting them all along.

This is the original post where I tested if you get spotting credit for a harvest: http://forum.thehunter.com/viewtopic.ph ... 32#p755732

There are several topics about spotting bugs. 1 bug where the spotting missions aren't working, 1 where some users say spotting is not working at all, And another where spotting stats are not correct on the website/launcher. I don't know if the last one is due to lag, or if they are permanently missing, but either way it seems to be affecting subsequent hunts. i.e. people are reporting getting the "Increased Level" message more than once for the same skill.

I got 7/15 on David's quiz. :D

I took Davids test - you wouldn't want me on your team lets put it that way. I'm surprised David heard of a 3.5" floppy- one of the ones I got right  We used to be experts of splitting data files to accommodate capacity. The invention of compression was ground breaking at the time.
The term "Sounds good, send me the files" meant putting floppy's into a special mailer, yes, post office stuff- since a magnet would wipe them out.

Ok, thanks for the info!

Nice result on the quiz, Tod! Do you know that for open answer questions you got 2 points instead of two?

Well I see everything has been said already
I think overall the forums has become a better place, although I still speak to people ('good members') who are just ignoring the forums a bit due to the negativity.
Have to get them back in.

Apart from that I had a good holiday. Gonna do Dave's test later. :)
