As above when it comes to coyotes its got to be one shot kill,
if you wound it don't bother tracking it, if you do it will be laying down or standing and you can not harvest it,
you can put another 4 or 5 shots in it to kill it and harvest it, but that's no good as its a one shot only comp.
I'm still trying for a one shot kill. :(

I don't really agree with that, for a few reasons.

You can hit an animal in double-lungs and it still may run for a bit. You will have a short track and then find the animal dead from one shot.

If the animal requires a second shot to kill it, you cannot get the "one-shot" competition entry. However, the animal still provides regular Hunter Score and gm$ payment, so it is worth taking it, at least to me. Even if it is a body shot, I'll at least make an effort to track it and lure it back in. It's an ethics thing for me.

If you find the animal down, you can finish the animal with one additional shot to the brain/heart/lungs. It is usually not necessary to pump multiple shots into it to finish it unless you are aiming carelessly. If you play a long game, you can also leave the animal there and come back to it later. Sometimes they may expire after a couple hours, if you play that long.

My first reply was more to let others know that there maybe a problem with coyotes, it was not meant to be taken as a game gripe.
My point is coyotes in " Competition: Halloween 2025 Bad Dog " may have a problem.
Just my Opinion. :)

Best of luck to you and all that are playing Halloween 2025.

Hello everyone: a quick question: which weapon is best at long range in your opinion? And why are the various monsters so hard to kill this year despite being shot in the brain? ;)

And on top of that, my dog, despite being well-trained, only listens to English—stupid dog! :D :D :D

The male coyote I shot for the comp ran 30 m after a lung, liver intestines hit from near straight on with the .308. It's just the way these infernal creatures are.

I don't own the Maesto shotgun, so can't testify to that. For longer shots trying to ambush the Werewolves, I use the .308 with the scope. I use the pistol Xbow for the charging ones at 5 meters or less.

My comp coyote gave me a nice broadside around 30m, so I dropped him with a heart shot with the .308. I had a few previous ones that had single-lung hits. I left one of those standing on the field, as Muglug mentioned, for around 3-1/2 hours to see if it would die. It didn't, and I finally finished it with a second shot before I checked out.

In the Settler's Creek event I did have a wounded elk that I left the game running overnight when I went to bed. The next morning she had expired, although I don't recall the actual wound time.

And I haven't seen any brain shots that failed to be instant kills.

Okay, I recommend the Maestro sawed-off shotgun, even outside of events. It's the best 12mm caliber for birds, of course, and other things! Shooting distance: approximately 50 meters, but for events? I don't know. Happy hunting! ;)

Let's not forget the Maistos unique ability for fast follow-up shots & the slug scope with decent zoom to make hitting fleeing WWs easier at longer distances.
Saved me from loosing some big wolves and some rare after the first shot mearly wounded them.
And saved my own butt when the first shot failed or when several WWs charged at once!
Still love the .308 for power - especially for elk etc. and the crossbow pistol for stealth. But for WWs its the Maisto for me.

Not sure what you mean by, "time wouldn't pass." For Halloween events the clock is fixed at 1:15 AM and does not change during a hunt.

As for the animals, again, Halloween rules are different. Unless you hit the brain, heart, or both lungs, don't expect the animal to die, at least not for a very long time. Since they are already undead, it's hard to do more damage. Frustrating for those, " x Harvest Value" competition scoring rules, but that's Halloween.

You can wait for an official response, but these don't sound like bugs to me.
The time being stuck at 1:15 I had not been aware of, or I should say, I knew it stayed night but I was not aware the clock did not advance at all, I thought it essentially just ran a night cycle and time still passed. The animals taking longer to die with non-lethal hits I knew about and had already seen over the first couple of days, but then they simply stopped dying. I had several animals on the map that stayed alive for several real-time hours with heart/lung shots, and while yeah, them taking time to die because they are undead definitely makes sense, I'm not sure close to three RL hours was intended (that's when I said forget it and closed the game down); and if it was, it certainly to me seems a bit unreasonable for a play session.

Re: traduction

Hello everyone, I have a small translation problem: the commands for dogs have been in English since the Halloween event, but that's not a problem for me. However, the animal's condition—I mean the tracks—is incomprehensible, even to Google Translate! (For example: escape, wandering, blood, etc.) Is there anyone who could help me translate these three words into French? Thank you in advance. ;) ;)
