Game goes to black screen after patching

Game Mode: SP

Description:
When starting a hunt, the loading screen is black (audio still plays) and the game will load into the reserve. When going into the inventory screen, the screen again goes black with the mouse cursor visible, and the game can only be exited by closing on Steam. This started after downloading the latest Steam patch. Tested on Loggers and Timbergold with the same result. Computer restart did not fix.

Steps to Reproduce:
Start a single player game
Wait to load into a reserve
Press "I" for inventory.

Edit: I was able to fix it, it was a Steam issue. Can disregard and decline post.
