Dead animals vanishing and dead bodies teleporting somewhere else.

Post by K4n4y »

Map : Whitehart Island
Mode : Solo

Hello,
today during 2 successive hunts i encountered the same problem, dead animals vanishing and found up to 200m away from them death location :

- First Hunt :
Had 5 Elks, male & females dropped all around the tripod, 6m to 27 from it, decided to go for the challenge "harvest 10 elks in 5 minutes", went 200-250m further than the tripod with a tree stand, shot 4 females elks and 2 turkeys there to complete the 10 elks needed.

First I harvested the turkeys, then a male elk that received an intestines bad shot earlier while on the tripod, it was close to the place i shot the 4 females, 40-50m away more or less, then few seconds later collected the 4 females, made a sprint to the tripod and to my surprise 3 elks were where they were shot, another had teleported 60m away but i saw but the last one of the 5 dead around the tripod was nowhere to be found...

Had a female calling not far away so i tried to get her and finish the challenge in time but sadly it failed, i got it 2 or 3 minutes too late, then while going to refill ammos at my tent, not far away, i found the missing female elk... around 120m away from the place she dropped dead earlier...

- Next Hunt :
Lucky start with elks, coyotes and turkeys herds near my tripod, going again for the challenge, leaving 8 of them dead around the tripod and 3 on the run wounded, plus some turkeys and coyotes dead around the tripod too.

I collect everything that isn't elk and is dead around the tripod ( some coyotes & elks wounded are on the run ) , then start to track the wounded elks and find 2 of them and put markers on the map,
this time i make a dry run to see if i can make it in 5mn as some of the wounded and now dead elks are a bit far away, once i arrive at the end, at my tripod location one elk is missing again... I took screenshot before and I'm sure it was there, no doubts about this...

Here the dead animals before i started to collect some, Orange= elks, Grey= Coyotes, Green= Turkeys, the missing elk in this second game session was the elk # 8.

Follows a long long run to find it, after a frustrating search all around the tripod area i encountered it 200m away from his dead spot... ( the line going south-west is once i found it and went hunting around ) :

Managed to recover the 10 elks & complete the mission in time but it's really frustrating to see dead animals teleporting to far away locations needing a very long search and luck to be found...
Here it happened while there was quite a few dead animal on the ground ( maybe it happens also with just a few or one animal on ground, not tested this yet ) and then i reach out off the 220m or so distance ( i have settings at max so rendering range for me is 320 or something meters, not 220m but I'm confident that i was under 320m the first hunt, the second hunt i probably have gone further than 320m )

Both times i still could see the colored dome indicating the location of the dead animals, but the huntermate could not interact with it.

It looks a bit similar to the problem we encounter (more in MP than SP mode) while hunting birds with the dog, sometimes the bird start to spin around the dog and jumps in the air to end up who knows where when released from the dog's mouth, sometimes far away sometime closer to the initial dropped location, but here it's with land animals, no dogs involved, no MP involved... Just a lot of dead animals on the ground and leaving the 220m perimeter for a bit.

Already heard players briefly complaining about disappearing dead animals but not encountered it myself before today, and not sure if it involves the same steps, leaving many animals dead on ground and leaving the area to return and find some not where they died. What happened to me today seems reproducible easily, each time i followed what described

Thanks a lot :)

I've had this happen multiple times in Multiplayer. It seems that map does not matter, as I mainly hunt TGT and find it occurring there. For example, I shot an elk with less than 10 points for a friend's mission and told him to join. I left the render, he joined, and the elk was 80-90 meters from where I shot it.

While it is an important bug to get fixed, I think the developers are vastly limited with the strength and accuracy of their game engine storing information about dead animal locations. For now, it is best to remember that it shouldn't be further than 320 meters from where you originally shot it. (Pressing Z a couple of times fast highlights animal harvest domes from much further away)

Until now i saw this only in MP with waterfowl birds and most of the times the dog was involved, i don't do much MP and when it happens I'll harvest as soon as possible so never seen such issue, MP always had some weird stuff happening from times to times but here it was in SP mode, and twice in a row following the same steps / pattern.

And thanks for the tip i'll try it next time, Z by default is sunglasses, but having a AZERTY layout keyboard, it's probably the Y key for me as that's what is set for sunglasses.
