It's getting worse (Wound Times)

Post by Dr_ViEr »

I wonder, if I am the only one having increasing trouble with 0.3-0.6s wound times in TGT (WRR and PB as well but as far not as as often), as nobody complains about it.

In the past it happens from time to time, that a hit that would have caused an instantanous death in other reserves (e.g. heart, double lung, spine, brain), has wound times ~0.3s, but by now there is not a single hunt in TGT without having at least one of these! Just as an example my last 4 hunts in TGT:

https://www.thehunter.com/#profile/vier ... /125555028
Grizzly - heart shot

https://www.thehunter.com/#profile/vier ... /125540986
Wolf - double lung
Puma - double lung
Wolf - lung, liver

https://www.thehunter.com/#profile/vier ... /125519562
Wolf - double lung

https://www.thehunter.com/#profile/vier ... /125519037
Puma - double lung

If I scoll down a little bit more I will find this one here:
https://www.thehunter.com/#profile/vier ... /125078389
WT-Ptarmigan - 5 out of 6 killed with a single shot, came up with wound times

It is rather frustrating, as TGT is the reserve with the most missions requiring 100%-kills.
If you manage to drop the animal on spot, it is always a gamble if you will end up with or without a wound time.

It's been a while since I hunted Timbergold. I understand your frustrations though and would like to know how to get 100HV on these animals. After reading your post I combed my own hunting history to see if I have any examples of 100%HV harvests of Grizzly, Wolf, Puma on Timbergold. I couldn't find very many examples. Although I don't have gobs of time invested in this game relative to most other players who have been playing this game as long as I have, or even a fraction as long.

I have two examples that I can share that may shed some light?

(M) Wolf 100%HV: (https://www.thehunter.com/#profile/invi ... /966486913)
*80m with 30R O/U hitting everything and the kitchen sink - though not double lung or heart.

(F) Grizzly 100%HV: (https://www.thehunter.com/#profile/invi ... /967563324)
*Brained animal at 30m with .50 cap roundball

Could weapon choice have something to do with it?

Have you tried the 30R? It is one of the most powerful weapons + covers a wide range of species. I know in the past when some kind of important mission or challenge comes up that asks me to get a 100%HV on large animas I bring my most powerful rifles for these challenges and have had an easy time meeting the objective of 100%.

Maybe challenges like this require certain weapons? For example, one event mission wanted me to harvest a moose at 100%. No questions asked I brought the .340 Weatherby and easily met the objective by harvesting the first (M) moose I saw with a clean heart shot at over 100+m. .340 is the most powerful rifle in this game as far as I know. I doubt I could have got that 100%HV from that distance with other rifles (I could be wrong).

I'm wondering if it's something in your video settings that may be causing a brief lag. Here is a wolf I shot a couple weeks ago to compare to your third example.

Exact same weapon, within about a meter of your distance, and a single lung instead of double lung. Yet it gave 100% HV. My internet is an IPhone hot spot, so it's not like I have a very fast connection or anything.

The reason for my weapon choice is that I only have a couple of missions left - at the moment I still need the 100% grizzly with the recurve bow - and try to keep all weapons on the same skill level.

I have had the same effect in the past with all weapons, including .340, 9.3x74 and 7mm Mag. I do not remember any with the .30R but as all the others have shown that issue, I dont see any reason the .30R should not.

As far as I understand the mechanics - I might be wrong - the weapon power defines, if you reach a leathal spot, but once you have, there should be an instant kill.

My hardware is definitely not a typical gaming setup... On the other hand it should be by far more powerful than any hardware used 15 years ago, when the game was programmed.

I have had these problems from the very beginning when I started playing (~4 years ago), but not as often. I remember there have been other players with these problem some time ago and just wanted to know if they share my feeling that the number of animals with wound time increase.

Nevertheless, I have to think about upgrading my PC, but as the reason for that issue is not clear, with a risk that that will not solve it in the end.
