Decoy Sales
It's been a while since I played and I'm not sure if anyone I used to run around with is still around but just wanted to say hi again! Other than that though I wanted to check and see how often duck decoys went on sale? I have a goose setup already but never got around to getting my duck setup up and need to. Also I see there's a new type of goose, so gonna have to get that up and going too.

Re: Decoy Sales
they come in sale usually with major events, like Christmas, and other long events with daily sales, also they come in sales sometimes in weekly sales, but if you really need a setup fast and cheap your best choice could be a bundle, since there is now a certain way to say when they will be in a sale again.

Welcome back!
Yes there is a new goose, the magpie goose. It requires its own equipment.
Bundles:
https://www.thehunter.com/#store/bundle/299
https://www.thehunter.com/#store/bundle/300
The decoys for the ducks are a bit complicated, because they have cross-attraction, e.g. the mallard decoys also attract all other species, but only with 50% of their effect.
I would recommend to read up on this a little:
https://thehunter.fandom.com/wiki/Waterfowling
This page also shows a calculation for your least amount money to get the full attraction for all four duck species (just 7 flapping wing decoys):

Ok, that makes more sense, so the spinning decoys give a little extra love to all duck species, I'll probably end up buying 2 of those ducks are spinning bundles then and call it a day.HooCairs wrote:Welcome back!

I bought the Magpie Goose bundle and set it up but am not getting very many breaks at all. Are they hard to break or is there a certain way to set them up? I set it up similar to my goose setup which works great but no luck.

Re: Decoy Sales
The magpie goose bundle should include everything you need to hunt them successfully, so it can't be your gear. Unlike the canada geese, magpie geese can land on both land and in water. Because of this, the decoys can be placed on land or in water. Although I usually hear geese no matter where I am on the map, I encounter the most around the large river and in the swamp. My recommendation would be to set up somewhere in the swamp since there's a lot of open areas near water and there should be plenty of shallow water areas where you can cross or set up decoys. Aside from maybe your location, I'm not sure what else can be causing you to get less breaks. If you use the long distance call or flag over your 12 decoys + 2 spinners, you should be getting breaks from most flocks just like with canada geese.
And two of the "The Ducks are Spinning" bundles should give you max attraction for all duck species and then some. Good choice.

Yeah, I was mostly speaking of how I have my decoys setup. I had them in a circle around my blind and then I moved them to in the water in front of my blind but still not getting many breaks. Might try a different spot.

Re: Decoy Sales
If you're seeing geese and you have enough open area to shoot them, then I wouldn't move the decoys because moving them to a new spot won't affect breaks. Breaks are affected by the attraction level of your decoy spread, and whether or not you're using the long range caller & flag decoy lure. If you have max attraction & switching between the long range caller and flag lure, then there's nothing more you can do to increase their chances to break.

Re: Decoy Sales
I didn't think there was a reason to switch between the long range caller and the flag lure. I thought they worked equally well but stack if you have 2 players using one each. For a single player though does it matter which you use?

Re: Decoy Sales
I've done it for years and very often get a break on the first usage of the flag after using the long range caller & vice versa. I assume this is because they don't have to be used at exactly the same moment to get the stacked effect...like maybe there's a few seconds cooldown between each one, during which time the stack effect works.
