Cross species scoring.
Not that I understand a thing about it though. I just know what it stands for.

Re: What is CSS scoring?
Not saying this is totally correct but to my understanding let the smallest animals have a score CSS of 0, the biggest 100, so if you shot a Mule deer with a CSS score of 50 it's an average deer. A CSS score of 95 means you got a cracker....

But CSS can go over 100.Schlachtwolf wrote:Not saying this is totally correct but to my understanding let the smallest animals have a score CSS of 0, the biggest 100, so if you shot a Mule deer with a CSS score of 50 it's an average deer. A CSS score of 95 means you got a cracker....

CSS = Cross Species Scoring. https://thehunter.fandom.com/wiki/CSS
Really silly system in my opinion since a 220+ Moose is rated lower than say a average Black Bear. They should have 100 Max CSS for each species.
That's why CSS comps in general are unfair.

I have over 1337 kills with my Longbow at 100% kill rate.

Re: What is CSS scoring?
Pretty much what Schlachtwolf said, but there is also the "difficulty" multiplier. I was devised so you could shoot a grizzly, and I could shoot a grey wolf, and we could easily compare scores.BearJohnson wrote:Points for horns or skull size (boone & crocket?)

However, with the multiplier you can get a score of 0 - 135 with your grizzly, and I can get a score of 0 - 78 with my Wolf.
Personally, I think they should have just left the multipliers out, and went with 0 - 100 for every species. (What we refer to as "Normalized" scoring)
HV is supposed to be an overall Harvest Value of an animal. And takes into account Trophy Integrity (How much damage you do to the animal), and Wound Time (how much the animal suffers).
It's not just meat. It's also hide, and "Trophy" (which is of course different for each species)
check the wiki article. It explains it all pretty well.
It's "Tod", with one bloody 'd'!

I think that's because bears are a harder species to hunt than moose (without a feeder)Ravenousfox wrote:CSS = Cross Species Scoring. https://thehunter.fandom.com/wiki/CSS

Re: What is CSS scoring?
It is a totally fictional and made up number that I think came into somebody's on the Dev Team's consciousness after an all night bender...
It is fictional. It is useless. Ignore it as in the grand scheme of things it means nothing.
