HOW?

Post by BearJohnson »

The sitka deer competition that I had the 1 slot in (with one player) of 61 meters - I was VERY proud of that shot - is currently score to beat 303 meters.

HOW do you hit a sitka deer at 303 meters WITH a crossbow?

I literally have NO idea how that is possible.

Is there a crossbow that takes the 2.5-22X scope?

man...

someone 'splain this to me plz?
I may be a noob... but I still have fun!
Trigger time = FUN!

there have been 400 meter shots made with the recurve. Just a heads up any distance comp is won with setup shots and the longest of them are made on WRR.

Here are a couple of videos for you to check out.

It take a lot of practice and luck, involve get into a very high ground like the mountains in WRR to add distance and shoot arrows at a barely visible sitka, in fact due the drop of the arrow you don't even look at the animal in your sight at the moment of the shoot, you point at the animal and then you rise the sight, there was a video of a guy making that shot in youtube but i couldn't find it. That competition take a lot of practice, but the range competitions are won with shots near the or further the normal render range.

 More like spam arrows at the target from a distance hoping one will hit.
Soon as you know the distance to the target that's all you do just spam arrows hoping one will hit, luck.
I have over 1337 kills with my Longbow at 100% kill rate.

I remember that someone one in the forum was doing that kind of practice with a crossbow and tracer arrows, i don't remember who, but i remember he used the tracers just to see wher the arrows landed and so improve the marksmanship, was a very expensive way to practice imho, but also was before the deploy-able targets were introduced.

I'd say what I said is very true, otherwise Tony's stats would roughly be 80% hit chance on mostly everything if your statement was true.

i know i can go to my barrel on a long range set up and hit 8 out of the 10 shots same position.no problem that isnt luck. you will blow a lot of shots while learning.me and tony for eg spent about a month on VDB every night blowing tracer arrows into the wind. :D i hate to think how much money went that way buying tracers.

the thing is once you have it down its not to bad.stats arent a true reflection of anything.for eg early on it thehunter you could only have 10 bullets.so every hunt whatever people had left say 3 or 4 bullets they would shoot off at the start so they had a full ten rounds for the new hunt.imagine that for a year or many months.same with short hunts. many people assume spawn mashing when you see ten 1 minute hunts. when it can start rain ten in a row.

it is easy if you practice it . its not luck.

so the key is practice dont worry about your stats they mean nothing anyway. its the only way you will learn the distance and drop rate.

Okay then prove it, get 8 hits out of 10 arrows at 300m + with a bow in one hunt.
Looking through Tony's hunts I see they're mostly 10% hit chance out of 10 arrows from that distance so go on then, good luck I gather you'll need it. ;)
