Observation of no sound?

Post by gas56 »

While hunting WH today for bobcat for a couple of hours,..
I did not hear any growls to pick up on the hunter mate,...
even though I was in range of a few Bobcats that should have made some noise.
I just wanted to know if anyone is hearing bobcats, or I was just having a quiet hunt since the last patch?
As I was also having no sound when putting up and taking down the tree stand also yesterday & today.
I have already cleared my game caches before I started to play today.

Yeah, here's your answer as to what they're doing.
As shown in my video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QyMaUzPGe9M
0:12 on onward.
I have over 1337 kills with my Longbow at 100% kill rate.

Yeah I noticed a big male doing that same thing running over and over in circles after it spooked, but a female came in to the electronic call
and I shot it with the PP and the male that was running in circles finally fled away.
So are the Bobcats just completely silent altogether since the last patch?

I assume they're silent because they're running in circles.
Who knows, A.I is broken pretty bad on them at times.

Not all of them run in circles, and I couldn't find a bug report on them for either problem.

Yeah I know, was joking :P
I've also noticed Red Fox at times have silent audio clues when they call out for some reason.

Really? you were joking?.......... ................
Well there is a bug report in the animals section 2nd page on bobcats running in circles from last year and I thought it was taken care of,...
but I guess not........... they did run in small circles when they 1st came out, but the circles grew bigger.........

So last patch- when exactly are we talking? what day? My game updates automatically now the way I have it set up with Steam so I don't have to suffer through hours long DL's like I used to as it happens when I'm sleeping or at work now. So I don't know when patches are really unless I catch it on forum but don't really keep up with it much.
I was beating on cats for the Satans Beast comp, it was the first time I've ever went out there focused only on them so the beginning of our serious relationship in the field. I've seen them running around in circles frantically too but that was when they first came out.
During my cat hunts I focused on tracking/spotting because I have no skls. I never came across tracks to give away they were still running circles, that's not to say they aren't, only that I observed nor found evidence they were in those hunts.
What I can say I learned of their behaviour is, they are unique in that I needed to develop some specific strategies. One thing I picked up is that just because I don't get a call doesn't mean they aren't around, which I personally like a lot. Several times after walking and thinking I should be within range of something, I would set up and make calls. Each time I had that feeling I was right and would have a couple cats come in, some fast and some super slow which reminded me a hell of a lot of red fox, especially big red fox who are slower than death to come to a call. One time I did this and was glassing all over and suddenly a really loud growl! I pull up HM and I see the circle coming from where I was- damn thing walked right up in silence and I never saw him because I was too busy looking all over  ~ if similar logic of other species is any indicator, the majority of calls as soon as one is in range have a high probability of being junk anyway- my best cat from that comp never made a sound and it wasn't even that great.
