Sure, why not? Ethical for a wide range of species and it's not bad with the 3x20mm scope. 50-60m max effective range imo.

I'd go for the old muzzleloader personally. If I compare what I've been using the most it's definitely that one.
More fun than the others and if not, it'd be the 8x57 Mauser.

I own them all & have to agree the most powerful is the Mosin but the Engfield gets the most use. I just happen to like it.

They are all worth the money if you like the old weapons and a good challenge. Even the slightly weak .303 is great fun and I like its looks. If you're looking for the best efficiency and easy kills, then the classic weapons probably aren't your best choice. ;)

Oh, and you need to buy them anyway once "Tweed & Rifles 2019" is happening! :P

All but the .303 are pretty decent, but I'd go 7.62x54R unless you really must use a scope; then either 8x57 or .30-06 are pretty good.

Definitely yes! It is great fun to use and offers a challenge, sometimes. Plus, it is the only rifle that can shoot everything on Whitehart Island.
My recommendation is to use it without scope.

Or you can go for the 8x57 IS Anschütz 1780 D FL Bolt Action Rifle, which basically is a K98K Mauser with a much better range of scopes.

Love the 8x57 Anschütz, but the Anschütz is no classic rifle :)

Isn't that the truth.... that's why I hardly use any of the classic rifles...........
except on events & missions.
Though I did like using the Mosin Nagant on Sambar Deer for a short spell,
until the 9.3x74R was released.
And I like it best for now actually on med/big deer types!................. :D
And keep the Slobber Knockers like the 45/70 Gov & 340 Wbee along for good cause...... ;)
