Best locations for deployable tower (Whitetail)?

Post by gordon »

Hi,
I'm planning to use my 2 deployable towers for whitetail hunting. Where would you set them up?
I would prefer Whitehart or Loggers Point, but if most of you think RFF is better for high scoring bucks
then I might change my opinion ;) Coordinates appreciated...

Look at my RFF setup: https://www.uhcapps.co.uk/myreserve/?co ... HCJBGJNFJL
The tower in the SW produces good results for me. It's only for moose and whitetail, but there seems to be a corridor that a lot of them travel through.

The chance to find a high scoring buck is the same on every reserve with whitetails by the way. On WHI, the soutern island is good for them, but I don't need any additional towers there. Generally, hunting whitetail doesn't really require much large equipment due to the fact that they travel alone and you can ambush them quite easily without stands or blinds.

Check out my tower on LP. It is pretty consistent on getting good bucks out of. About 90% WT with a few muleys on occasion. I have yet to see any monsters there but 150-170 is pretty common. I have also pulled Piebalds & NTs from it as well.

And in Whiteheart look at the Southern Island. The tower where my tent is usually pretty good & the TS by the pond is even better. Northern island the Tower is at the location of the "Golden Treestand" & the Tripod is a the "Hill of Death", both proven locations.

IMO If you are looking to hunt a lot of whitetail, a treestand is what I find to work the best. If you are looking for a trophy whitetail, the search for high weight tracks and spot/stalk approach usually produces results.

The treestand on the southern island is where I tend to hunt whitetail for quantity. Usually around 10 in 30 minutes. Isn't bad for coyote/bobcat as well. https://www.uhcapps.co.uk/myreserve/?co ... IMIBJLNLFB

However if you are keen on using the tower, I have one on loggers for WT/Muleys, there are usually a few around when I spawn there and I have found that many roam nearby. https://www.uhcapps.co.uk/myreserve/?co ... JHCDCAOHBN

I was just about to start a hunt when I saw this posting so decided to check this spot out. It is after all only a cpl hundred meters from my own honey hole. I took a tripod stand with me & soon as I started calling a muley to my south answered. Then a whitetail from the opposite direction then another muley from more west. Long story short 5 bucks, all of them looking pretty good (smallest was a whitetail that showed 150s). I decide to shoot the muley that was the closest to me (turned out to be a 177) & after the shot broke 2 more bucks I didnt even see took off running. So total 7 bucks, all of them pretty dang good converge on this one spot within 10min of starting to call.
I am sure it is just a fluke but as I type this I am still in that tripod waiting for the spook to die down so I can start calling again :D

I would say that 7 at once is pretty abnormal for that spot, usually 2-3 for me, but given enough time as with anywhere else it seems they like to pass by there.
