I spesialy remember the bleat caler. I still dont use it. Can not stand the sound of it. Have used it so much when it only was the Whitehart island and a few animals and the blest caller. And I played a lot.nomad wrote:Not sure of the year I started, but it was before logger's point was released. For what it's worth, I can't stand the sound of my real one either, lol.wintergoose wrote:I spesialy remember the bleat caler. I still dont use it. Can not stand the sound of it. I remember the planes. Sky seems empty without them even now. My avatar is my first 200+ Mule buck from years and years ago, when trophy pics were quite different.

I started playing soon after the game was released.
I can remember the huntermate telling you how much noise you were making, but you had to guess if the tracks you clicked on were male or female.
I will never forget the first mule buck I shot, and where I shot it .. took me three hunts to achieve that.
And what about the whitetail bucks that used to come at you at a run, not always from the direction they last called from either.
Then there were those stupid bull elk herds that just kept coming back until you had six or more in a heap almost all touching.
Albino whitetail does a dime a dozen.
A 243 that actually killed things with one shot way out to render.
Killing elk with the 243, getting a growling from doc but still getting a weapon skill credit.
A really great plain scope reticle in 3 - 9 that got replaced with the crappy red dot centre.
The 30.06 was the only big gun you needed.
Who remembers the dreaded ZZZZs just when you were tracking the biggest whitetail you ever..........
No one complaining about their dog not spawning in multiplayer back then.
My word. who would have thought I would still be doing it after all this time.
And whats worse, encouraging my grandson ( who wasnt even born then ) to have a go as well.
LOL

Wow, I wish the recurve was still shot that way. I like that much more!Ravenousfox wrote:Yup the good days when animations were more thought out and realistic.
Look here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ddNX-lTvAI I've missed this animation ever since it was shortened.
Way more realistic Recurve bow animation/shooting style: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RC_czcCQZw8 Skip to 1:02 much more difficult to use and more instinctive compared to how EASY the Recurve bow is to use now. (please bring this back for a new bow Devs?)

recurve aiming is definetly off.
think of it as two lines, one coming from your eye, other from the arrow, if you aim with the arrow tip these lines intersect at that point, and then the arrow will be higher than your eyes line. if that makes any sense
(long story short we should all be missing high as is.)

I wish I had the opportunity to play in the old version of thehunter before moving into the new launcher and new animations which felt more "locked" , I arrived a couple of months late. Although that same year we got a improvement of animations and camera I looked at videos and the old animations were really cool.
