Timbergold Trails White-tailed Ptarmigan
I tried to hunt the White-tailed Ptarmigans with a shotgun, but it's impossible to get close to the birds. They already get spooked at a distance of 80 meters, no matter if you crouch. Is this a bug or what? And has anyone the same problems hunting those birds?

Re: Timbergold Trails White-tailed Ptarmigan
As much as I love the ptarmigans (the ones right after the first release), this ones are booring.
- They are fleeing all the time.
- When they are not fleeing, they are roaming.
- If you are close enough, you can't see them, because of the grass (very high settings).
So the only way is to snipe them @200m with the plinkington? Please not!
Tried to hunt them with the Pulsar.. No chance...

Re: Timbergold Trails White-tailed Ptarmigan
I hunt 2 of them tonight. And I agree this is little boring. I track some of them and after few tracks, I see fleeing tracks!!! But in other direction I see a flock of them roaming on the ground. I shot one of them with plinkington in 53 meters. The others spooked but after few second I see they turning back to me when they are flying! Then I shot one more with my Plinkington in the air in 30 meters away!
I was lucky, but I agree hunting them is little boring and need some luck and skills.

It seam that thy don't flush at all But flee on the ground Making wing shooting not possible. Shooting then with the plinkington is not fun to me.

I only hunted once for them... And only found one flock...So i don't know if that happens all the time...
I killed one with the 22. And waited there, they slowly all came back to the dead one, to regroup, got atleast 10 in fligth with the pump
( only bagged 6 for i simply coldn't find them in the grass!!! Next time i bring the dog)

Yes They flee very easily on the ground.RidgeBack69 wrote:It seam that thy don't flush at all But flee on the ground Making wing shooting not possible. Shooting then with the plinkington is not fun to me.
I think their spawn locations are just bad.
They should take cover and flush when you almost step on them.
This can't be by design I hope they improve their spawn points and bevavoir soon.

The Ptarmigan and Big Horn are boring to hunt on this map. It's like you can find a hundred elk, bear and MD but not the other two
