If you kill them in a deep river area that you can't reach, they should float to the shore. Works most of the time at least...

Not always sadly, it happened to me with some Water Buffalo in the past, not even going out render could make it go near the shore, so is better wait for the animal to cross the waters before make a shot. The problem i see there is in certain areas of the rivers is like a little lake and Banteng and WB apparently like to remain in the middle using their horns as snorkels like in that picture
