Attn: Jack Rabbit killers! OR Fellow VERMINATORS!

Post by BearJohnson »

Hey guys/gals!

Bear Johnson here.

This game is great!

But so is IRL Hunting...

While living in New Mexico I started a hunting group that eventually became known as The VERMINATORS!
We had all year around weekly hunts. (sometimes two or three hunts a week)
While Jack Rabbits were our main prey.
Due to the fact that I was a gun runner, our hunting arsenal was varied to say the least.

(that is me... the big guy in the middle)

IF there is an interest... I took ALOT of pictures over the years with the VERMINATORS. I would gladly share my experiences with you folks.

lemme know if you are interested
I may be a noob... but I still have fun!
Trigger time = FUN!

Before I share any more pics or stories I think you need to understand the situation.

In New Mexico you need NO license to hunt Jacks.
NO bag limit.
24 hours a day.
Some ranchers will give you ammo or even PAY you to kill them.
We hunted mainly in the area southeast of Silver Springs near the Mexican border called Radium Springs.
These Jacks were literally filled with tumors and parasites.
So we could not eat them.
But we did feed them to the coyotes, owls, and hawks.

The pictures and stories I plan on sharing are bloody, gruesome, and all around fun!

No ethics here. Just murder. Murder on a mass scale.
death... Death... DEATH to ALL Long Eared vermin!

so if you are weak of stomach...
Or if you have a heart condition...

PLEASE look no further.
Read no more words on this thread.

BUT...

If you like Killing Vermin.
and the sight of blood and guts makes your black heart go "pitter pat"...

Look and read on McDuff!

You have found a thread worthy of... THE VERMINATORS!

I will leave you with my absolutely favorite historical photo on the subject.
Just to add some perspective - You may think that we have killed "too many" Jacks...
This is a pic of a ONE DAY group hunt in 1895

An introduction is called for!

Meet the VERMINATORS!
The core group - these are the main characters:

Me (of course)
Image
My favorite Jack killer - Ruger 10/22, LOW 600 Serial Number, Rubber Hogue stock, 1.5 pound trigger job, 25 round mag, 3-9 variable scope

Mike - He was a door gunner in Nam with the Sea Wolves - AWESOME MAN.
Image

Mark - a good friend in all weather.
Image

Kelly - my daughter
Image
I made that Ithaca Featherlight 12 gauge up with fur and ears as a birthday present.
She is a MASTER of slam fire - on a runner she would empty the gun BEFORE the rabbit stopped moving.
I swear it sounded like full auto!

Khai - crazy mofo

Many more people joined us on various hunts, but THIS was the crew I could count on.
A phone call the night before and we all met at the T&A Truck stop for a pre-dawn breakfast.
We would choose the vehicle of the day - all pile in and head out to the desert.
Hunt from sunrise to about 10 am.
In the Sonoran desert it get REALLY hot around 10 am.
The jacks would all be hiding in the shade by then.
Time for trophies and feeding the coyotes.
The back to the truck stop for lunch.

"Same time tomorrow guys?"

a collective "HELL YES!"
I may be a noob... but I still have fun!
Trigger time = FUN!

My Buck General came in handy.

Kelly had her own Buck General.

"UGH! It got on my shoes!"

My son-in-law Zerk (short for Berzerker)

The day's trophies...

Time to feed the Coyotes!

I used to sell a pair of ears on Ebay for $10.00
"Think about it... A rabbit has 4 feet, but only two ears. IF a Rabbit's FOOT is lucky, Think how lucky the ears are!"
Man... I made alotta money back then.
I may be a noob... but I still have fun!
Trigger time = FUN!
