Re: Generation Zero Beta
Back in my times games to be purchased used to release a free demo first, so people could test a part and provide feedback, was better imo than to have to buy early access for a unfinished game(this is becoming standard) and get a full list of bad reviews and worst, people asking refunds.

Re: Generation Zero Beta
If you buy through steam you have a 2h trial. Not familiar with others policys. That games is sold as early access without the early access tag is becoming common practise. No man sky is going gold this summer. Its been out for a while...

Re: Generation Zero Beta
I completely agree with David, the setting is so good, music graphics the retro style is very good.
But the gameplay is so bad, i do not own it myself but i watched quite some video's about the game. I am not going to buy it, It's just walk to there shoot the robots get the loot continue to another town or place and do the same thing.
AI of the robots is also quite bad, they are slow and the very big ones are only hard to kill which takes more time but you can easily avoid getting shot by the rockets.
A game which has so much potential but lacks different types of missions and gameplay features.
What i would have done in the first place:
Add more different missions, add people in the game who you need to save (real characters not only voice acting), make a Jeep or something and have missions to save people from the robots or make it able to get into a house and make it more strong with wood etc.
Let robots do an invasion (like in the walking dead) 30 robots at once attacking your barricaded house etc.
So many things are missing, just shoot loot and repeat...
It's a no for me.

Re: Generation Zero Beta
I got it and first hours was meditative. Time just flying. It´s unnecessary generic though regarding indoors and cars. Every car don´t have to be SAAB 900 or Volvo 740 in regard of mostly everything so far but its a place I want to be in
As for robots just got one type so far so haven´t seen nothing yet I presume.

I did the same , watched many videos and read reviews and do not like it a bit . Like TH classic , nice graphics and all , but gameplay is bad .DarkHunterXX wrote:But the gameplay is so bad, i do not own it myself but i watched quite some video's about the game. I am not going to buy it,
So this company has great looking games , but they are so bad gameplay wise , which makes me scratch my head and ask : How can this be ?

Cause pretty much NO ONE cares to deliver quality these days because people will still buy it anyway if u put out enough stuff in the first place to gather even the slightes amounts of "hype". Game looked promising at first but it seems they didnt even try to improve anything upwards from the beta. Shame. Happy i didnt pre order it, was looking forward after i played the beta , which still had a lot of issues - but it seems they didnt take enough care to make it a finished product or give it any substance or soul besides nice graphics and a solid 80´s vibe. Same poopoo as CotW , good looks cant carry a poopoo buggy product that doesnt offer gameplay deeper then a puddle after a short rainfall.

Re: Generation Zero Beta
Its well worth a visit. I probably get more out of it since I am Swedish and recognize a lot but its not primal which was awful and way more buggy. I didnt encounter any bugs during my first hours but my computer has always been relatively friendly.

Re: Generation Zero Beta
I haven't played it but I just watched a Youtube review by a big German gaming magazine. Basically the testers said that the beta showed great potential and the atmosphere is great, but surprisingly even the most obvious bugs that were in the beta weren't fixed before release. Sounds familiar? It's such a pity that Avalanche once again hurt the potential of a great game by bad beta testing (aka not listening to beta testers enough) and a rushed release. Whatever they fix or improve now, it'll be hard to recover from those bad reviews.

True, i think that is a big problem, after all “You only get one chance to make a first impression.” and that is valid for products too, sometimes rushing a product too much can be rushing towards a cliff.
