VM for downloading suspcious em$ offers

On many occasions I have scrolled through the em$ offerwall seeing all sorts of "Download these cool viruses for a tiny amount of em$!!!1!!".
So I was wondering, would it be safe to get a VM to download these offers? Has anyone done so? Have you gotten the em$ they promised you by doing so?

I can't speak for the em$ but a VM is the safest way to go if you are going to be doing something potentially "dicey" with your machine. I use them on a daily basis in my work, and they are very handy, since they're essentially a sandbox that allows you to experiment without endangering your actual machine. On the other hand, there are some potential ways for problems to occur but it's unlikely, I just want to put it out there that nothing is 100% safe these days.
