Could the Moderator of this forum please ask the editor of theHunter wiki to add the three Ptarmigans to the Retrieving abilities list on the dog page.
I tried to do it myself, but that section is in lock-down.
(It is shown on the Ptarmigan pages).

So just to clear this up for me, dogs can retrieve ptarmigans? Was there ever a point they couldn't? I could have sworn when I was a new player (almost a year ago) my dog wouldn't retrieve them at all. Now I'm not sure if it was originally that they couldn't and that was changed at some point, or if my dog was really that dense when I first got him. But I've always been under the impression they couldn't be retrieved by the dogs and I was always curious why. So much for losing ptarmigans to the tall grass in TGT anymore!

The retrievers can. They've always been able to do it. Maybe you bought a broken doggie
