Mm, I said "being addressed," as in, it sounded to me like they're working on it. I suppose that means they haven't rolled out a fix?

Anyway, after further testing, my dog appears to be tracking as normal (lvl 22, tried on Hirschfelden & Val-des-Bois). She's doing fine. She DOES often overrun dead animals and then run back with a ? but I assume that's some kind of bug, and anyway I'm usually on the trail behind her picking up every track, so I don't miss them. This isn't a new bug, however. I've noticed nothing out of the ordinary, except that she no longer stands after I fire my rifle when she is set to "Stay."

Out of interest, which types of dogs do you guys have? Maybe it's a bug with a specific version? I have heard a lot of people for awhile now saying their dog gets worse as it levels, but mine doesn't. For reference, I have the light-coated female.
I have noticed that this only happens when you are "crouching", never when you "stand"
check it

Mind, this is a REALLY old thread, but yeah same. I think it's because they aren't meant to start baying if you're in "stealth mode."

My chief beef with the dogs is that they don't obey commands instantly. For instance, if you hear an animal ahead and want to put up a tree stand, you need to park the mutt in a depression or something so he won't be seen and spook the animal. But half the time, he won't obey the "stay" command immediately; he'll wander about for a few seconds, then lie down in a random spot--usually right where the incoming animal will trip over him. It sometimes takes a few tries to get him into position.

As for tracking, sometimes he's sharp as a tack; sometimes he's sharp as a bowling ball. Smaller animals like fox and rabbits seem to present more problems. That said, Sherlock (level 21) has still found many animals I never would have found by myself, and he's never far from my side in the thick stuff, or on any map where I'm doing archery. You wouldn't think you could lose a dead bison in the grass, but you most certainly can--especially when it's too bright to follow the domes.

Besides which, with the backpack, he makes a handy ammo bearer.

say u hit only the body of a deer , u found some blood and ur order ur dog to folow it , the dog start normal to folow the track , after 2 -3 track the dog start to bee confused and dont want to guide you to any new track if the last one was no blood , that mean the animal still alive and the dog regret to folow new track cause he dont want to run and scare your alive deer , but that is not cool i want the dog to guide mee and warn mee that the animal is near by so i can put a new shot on him , i dont know if at lvl 50 that well change cause one of his skill name foot print tracking that tell you how well the dog can find footprints of wounded animal so he must bee able to track the animal all the way even if the animal is not dead that is the question? , ( i hope he can do so, the dog is made to guide us like in real life , i hope he lead us to 50 meter from the animal so we can put another shot) can u dev change the dog to like when he is about 50 meter from the animal he stand up and bark one time and have his front foot up that well bee great .

I've had Sherlock flush wounded game several times. It's come in handy. :-)
