Anyone else notice the loading screen? Looks a lot like a Barrett M82 or a clone of it. So, is it likely that the final release will feature (among others) a semi-automatic .50 bmg rifle? Would be great to have for taking out anything at a bit longer range I'm sure.

.700 (also obtained twice from crown settlement as previously mentioned by someone else). Not a big fan. Tried it will probably never use again
.308 Awesome for raptors from range
shotgun - use slugs for raptors in-close, buckshot is so useless I don't even pick it up
Bow. Go to weapon for T tops and T Rex

Really? I found the buckshot awesome at close range on raptors. Always drops them with one shot, two max. Slugs I usually have to use 4-5 before it drops.

Let's keep it within the realms of real small arms - no GAU-8 Avengers or other such BFG's :D

Well after having watched the power of a 700 nitro shell in this vid https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vo4ahgn_j0E

And the Shotgun with slog Ammo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U-X2nokZuzA

Maybe the game maker need to do some fine tunning on the weapons

Howdah Pistol - basically a sawn off double rifle, designed for last ditch attempt at self defense against attacking big game.

It would be nice to have in game, with lots of power, but short range.

It should draw and aim quicker than rifles too.

Springfield M21 with a .300 win mag barrel or a Winchester Model 70 Shadowhunter .300 mag (Yes it's that one from the hunter)

Composite Bows with some simple Broadheads would be fine and they oughta do the job, even on a T-Rex or Triceratops

A crossbow like this one http://www.barnettcrossbows.com/product ... /razr-2013 oughta do also

Well, a nice little shotgun? http://www.beretta.com/en-us/a400-xtrem ... synthetic/ , as long as it needs to drop a T-Rex due to the additional weight of rounds put it in it and not ripping it's heart and lungs apart, I want it semi automatic

For Double Barrels I would prefer to stick to Blaser's F3 12 GA

.44 Remington Supermagnum revolver and a .45 Colt Army http://www.colt.com/Catalog/Revolvers/S ... C2%AE.aspx

Muzzleloaders .50 would be nice too

and something real old school: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o2e71aD5bFI

and last but not least: Winchester Model 94 or Model 1873

Don't feel all chewed up

That's not a .700 Nitro Express though. Some quick googling reveals that it's a necked up .50 BMG and produces the same amount of muzzle energy as that one, that is in excess of 13000 ft/lbs whereas the .700 NE is closer to 9000 ft/lbs (the .700 in the video sends out an 1132 grain bullet at 2300 fps compared to the .700 NE which has a 1000 grain bullet at 2000 fps, quite a difference).

But in principle I agree with you, the weapons should be more effective. I spent the better part of 2 hours today trying to take down a Tyrannosaur buck. Seemed more like I was taking on Megatron. Shot it maybe 20 times in total, 5-6 shots with the .700 and the rest with 12 ga slugs, not all shots where in the vitals but many certainly where, including two .700's right in the lungs at close range. It fled after our first encounter and had his head hanging low but just refused to go down despite being shot 15 or so times after that. I never recovered him since I naturally ran into a pack of raptors when my ammo was all used up (you can't even begin to imagine the words that where coming out of my mouth at that point). That's not how I want this game to be.

I think major problem with Primal right now is that buckshot is more effective than slugs. I don't know if you have been reading steam forums, but after reading a few posts of people stating they were using buckshot on T-Rexes I started a thread and they confirmed they don't even bother with slugs. Now, I was trying to save as many slugs as I could, meaning I ditched many buckshot rounds, only to realise later I was ditching the most effective shotgun ammo... By logic, one would pick slugs over buckshot at anytime to deal with such thick skinned/bones huge animals.

I also agree that the .700 should be tweaked. It doesn't really feel like a high power rifle when you shoot at a T-Rex and the current stopping power doesn't make up for the ammo rarity. I'm carrying a .308 because even if I have to shoot twice or 3x as much, I'm able to find 5x the ammo.
