Dinosaur documentaries and stuff

Post by marcomies »

Here's a thread for posting all sorts of documentaries, books, articles, links etc about dinosaurs to get people ready for the Primal :D

My favourite documentary on the subject is the award winning 1999 BBC series Walking With Dinosaurs (not to be confused with the critically panned 2013 movie of same name). It's made in the style of normal BBC nature documentary: just animals and narration, no researchers talking or explaining things. It's not overly dramatized excuse for dinosaur fights like so many of this type of programs tend to be. The production values of the series are incredible and it has great visuals even by today's standards.

You can watch the episodes here for example: http://documentarystorm.com/walking-with-dinosaurs

Here's an interesting episode from 2011 BBC series 'Planet Dinosaur': http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xm9kf8 ... shortfilms
The episode features a lot of interesting stuff discovered about feathered dinosaurs found in the last 10 years in China. In comparison to 'Walking With Dinosaurs' this series does much more explaining and reasoning behind the assumptions made about dinosaurs' behaviors and habits. It's pretty disappointing that visually this looks worse than the 1999 BBC series: it's completely digital and especially animations look very clunky and weightless.

Edit. Sixth episode of the series has some really bizarre creatures: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x1juaw ... shortfilms
Hatzegopteryx would make very interesting waterfowling :D
