Just an image I found interesting. Here's part of it, cut:
Just a whitetail, right? --And here's the full image...
Spoiler:
I absolutely thought I was looking at a whitetail looking at that butt--with minor differences (like tail shape, maybe a bit shorter body?, foreleg color). Pretty cool that a fairly unrelated animal can be so similar in morphology!
Animal is a Southern Reedbuck, native to Africa, and a bit smaller than Whitetails.
Yeh, pretty cool. The only thing that struck me as odd was the pointy rump. Even the full image, only the face is just slightly different from a whitetail.
Jim Dougherty who was somewhat of a bow hunting pioneer said that the reedbuck in Africa made him feel a bit more at home while hunting there since they reminded him so much of whitetails. They definitely have some resemblance as long as their head is behind a tree.
