Gets a "C" for me- too much movement in the animation and under powered for less than precise hits. Maybe the new ammo will improve this. As an owner of a 17HMR I know it 's a kick ass little round but I I wouldn't take on a fox with it. You'd have to have a perfect basket shot broadside or head and then I'd be good with it. Just not what I would grab from the cabinet. IRL the 17 is a tack driver

Just to clarify, I wanted to point out with the quotes that I selected the option "good", in case you thought I was trying to be sarcastic. I see no reason to complain about a rifle that is giving me a 92% hit and 95% kill ratio after 1,000+ kills. ;)

Well, I wasn't entirely sure wether you were sarcastic or not but the majority seems to think it's good (apparently I'm part of a majority for a change :D )

And I can entrirely understand why it's not liked as much by everyone. But I rather take it along for a stroll than the Plink...which still is a good rifle but it's a rate of fire vs precision between the two. That and the range of ethical targets made me a believer in the .17...

Haven't bought it. I'm not difficult but this one hasn't charmed me. Not yet. Let's see tomorrow when we get some new info on the new ammo.

I went with good. It's maybe a tad more powerful than the Plinkington but so far that hasn't resulted in a better kill rate for me. Most of the time if I fail to drop a bunny with my first hit it's because I hit a paw or ear - and then it doesn't matter if it was a .17HMR or a .22LR. The gun does the job (as long as the job isn't killing bobcats and foxes) and the model, animations and sounds are nice. It'll probably make more sense for long range bunny hunts, because it shoots straighter, while the Plink is more useful under 100 - 120m due to the lower spook range and quicker follow up shots. But really, any one of them will do.
