Consumables | Wind Indicator

Post by caledonianblues »

Wind Indicator
Animals have noses many times more sensitive than humans, and the slightest scent of a hunter on the trails will see your target scatter. Help stay upwind when you're out on the hunt with our scentless powdered wind indicator. A gentle squeeze of the bottle and a puff of smoke will let you know exactly which way the wind's blowing.

I never use it.
Fallen leaves is more than enough to see the wind direction.

Never used this either just as quick to look for falling leaves or look up at the clouds.

Essential item that I never go without, in-game or RL. There are not always environmental clues in every location and cloud movement does not indicate the prevailing wind. A little puff from the good ole windicator never lies

Bought one for gms, never felt the need to use it though, guess I will try it out when I want to hunt bears and foxes with my crossbow (without using my treestand), for anything else I dont really see the use of it.

You only need to get within 200m of your prey to take them down.

Rated excellent! It does what it supposed to do - Performance=meets or exceeds
My use of it=zero- I'm not worried about the wind with scent eliminator, which should be called "Spook Eliminator"
"Out of all competitors, Radamus was the only one who got it I think" - BCKidd
"Ugh, I absolutely hate the thought that Radamus is right about this and I was wrong...!!!" Splainin2do

I used to use it all the time, then once I played the game more & more I realized I could get by, easily, without it.

It's one of those things you don't realize the effectiveness of until you begin to hunt considering sense of smell and wind direction. Often people use calls, get into tree stands or just shoot on sight without consideration to wind direction. If you're going to set up for using urine scents, IRL it would be best to position yourself downwind, but then the animal would also come from downwind so you'd likely still be upwind from the animal. For that reason I think it's best to use in situations where spot and stalk are being employed. Not sure how the game recognizes it however.
