One of my favorite guns.

Had a strange one easier today. Chest shoot on a standing fox only showed a body hit. Lost it over the boarder. Had to quit before I could see if it came back into the reserve.

Voted good, was a hard choice between good and excellent, really love the feel of the gun and that I really only have one shot! Other so called one shot rifles reload so fast that many times I can get off a second or even a third shot.

Love it despites the problem with the loading animation incorrect.

Like said above a real single shot rifle, and with the smoke cloud all around you don't know for sure if the animal is dropped or not , this gives a special feeling when using it.

Negative points are the need to be in standing position to reload and the animation being broken with the ball next to the barell, also don't like the red tip on the barrel when not using the scope, this little red color takes something out for me, not effective at very long range but it's normal for such weapon.

Positive : it looks really nice, can be used against turkeys even at long ranges > 100m , good wounding power most of the times even if sometimes some weird things happen, like a red fox shot under 20 meters in the chest resulting in a body hit and an infinite track but this happens with all rifles in this game from times to times.

Overall very satisfied with this rifle, wish we got more old styled weapons like this one, not necessary muzzleloaders, just trapper's styled weapons.

Voted good. I really like the flavor of this weapon. However it´s an old weapon and can´t compare to the modern weapons in terms of precision. But that´s not what you buy it for. :)

Cool looking but that's the only cool thing about it. 1 of those guns which will collect dust after 250 kills.

Its not one of those guns you would take with you in every hunt. But I still love it. Good.

Some have asked me if this weapon is powerful enough to
hunt with or not. I can assure any hunter that indeed it is! The iron sight is
zeroed at 50 meters and I can report that anything meeting the business end of
this weapon at a maximum of 50 meters or below will surely be dealt with!
It's wounding power at short distances seems to be immense due to the fact of
the .50 calibre round it fires. On the shooting range it also performed
satisfactory. Some flying shots here and there, but nothing out of the ordinary.
Accuracy is good on the iron sights to about 50 meters, but the round began
to drop after that and at 100 meters dropped considerably as well as targeting
ability. I would also not recommend shooting animals further than 50 meters, especially large game
animals. The penetration tests I have done on the Archery Addictions Range
show good lung penetration on large game like the Moose to a maximum
range of 50 meters. At 60 meters body shots can be expected on large game.
Obviously the weapon also has it's drawbacks here and there, one being it can
only fire a single round. Also the reloading takes a hefty amount time, 23
seconds to be exact, and you cannot see if the animal ran or if it's lying dead
after the weapon has been fired, because the amount of smoke it creates. You
have to wait until the smoke clears to see your fate. Also the short firing
distances means getting much closer to animals to get into shooting range, but
if you are familiar with bow hunting or like to get close and personal with
your quarry, that shouldn't be a hassle. All of these drawbacks are off-course
minor obstacles to the die hard black powder hunters out there. Bottom line
is, if you want a unique looking weapon which will get the job done within
it's parameters and are prepared to live with it's drawbacks then this is the
weapon for your collection. If not you would be better off steering clear of
this one. Rated : Good

One of my personal favorites. it's loud and the dirty smoke even makes it impossible to see if your game is down, specially if it was standing behind a bush or rock. In the right range good for all animals from turkey and fox to moose and brown bear.
As the most others said, great style, nice animated and a big fun.
But nothing for long range shots, and not for every hunt.

My favorite gun in the game. I find myself using this gun a lot, especially on Redfeather where you can get nice and close to most game.

The gun is very powerful at close ranges, but as with a real life muzzleloader the bullet velocity falls off sharply, and you will not be bringing down Moose very easily at anything more than 50m, so stick to closer shots.
The scope seems to help a lot with accurate shot placement and despite its low magnification power, is really quite good with a nice sight picture.

Obviously you'll probably want a backup weapon if you go after the aggressive species, I usually find myself taking a bow, and a .308 handgun along with this gun.

One of the big bonuses of this gun is that it can legally shoot any species other than ducks, geese, and the rabbits. And it can tackle wily Red Fox and Coyote at longer ranges with no problem.

Finally my favorite thing about the gun is the sound it makes, nothing is more exhilarating than getting real close to a nice big moose bull and pulling the trigger, then the sound and wall of smoke have you dazed as much as any critter on the business end, and if the shot was good you'll find a trophy when the smoke clears.

Kills Moose very easily at up to 30m, beyond that you better be a good shot.
One of the most powerful guns in the game up until about 25m where it's lost much of its original velocity, after 50m it has less penetration than almost any gun in the game, it will still penetrate lighter skinned animals and give heart/lung shots, but don't expect miracles.

If you wanna get a glimpse at what it might have been like to be a trapper in the frontier days. Bring only this gun with no scope, no binocs, no callers, no scents. Nothing but your skill as a hunter and this reliable piece of history.
