I think the 5m advantage comment is due to the way it was before the bow update where the distance you could get a quick kill using the recurve was slightly farther than the longbow, roughly 5m for some animals.

It does not apply now though.

i shoot turkeys with it at 40 meters and shoots just fine

This was my first bow at the very begining... sometimes its frustating but its really good at short distances, and driven hunts. In stands i would recommend compounds. I really like to hunt with recurve.

How does it compare to the Cable-Backed bow?

I couldn't find any info on it in the Store items reviews....
