BucksNBuffalo wrote:Straight up powerful rifle. More than enough knockdown power at close and long range distances, particularly effective on all large game species. Being a single shot bolt action rifle, do not let the slower reload time deter you, as chances are pretty good that whatever you shot at in the first place is already down, and a follow up is not required. As L3M182 said, it's one of the games oldest weapons, and the Hammer certainly doesn't need to be pretty. A needed rifle in anyone's EHR cabinet!
Another "quote" of this well put reply.
I went for quite awhile where this one was with me on every hunt. VERY RELIABLE!!!

If you need to be sure to kill something, grab the .300 and drop the hammer. Effective at any range. Straight up killer.

If you plan a little, you sometimes can hit a few animals in a row.

Voted only average

It's power surprises me every time I take it with from the lodge, but these times don't come often. I hate it's look compared to other big game rifles, and single shot mechanism makes it even worse. I use even .308 more than .300

Very good. 4.5

Lacks: 12x optics, mag

One of the best rifles you can get but simply outclassed by 7mm.

Easily my favorite rifle. I own the Bullpup and the 9.3 but nothing comes close to putting that red dot on a hogs shoulder and blasting away. Like a little red kiss of death. No need to purchase the carbon either. I was hoping the carbon would look nice but the model just seems off to me. 300 Composite is a must in my opinion.

O ya. Love the single shot also. 1 shot 1 kill. Shooting at running animals seems very unethical to me as in your firing rounds into their back area and they could change directions at any moment causing a bad shot.
