Yes, but you can't use it on mission #10. You MUST use the .454.
For mission 10 you can use any weapon ;)

My mistake. The .454 must be used in mission #9.

Plenty of examples in here: https://youtu.be/dIhzUu-BL5k?t=541

thank you, i will try that tactic for the mission, something about the .454 i don't know if was nerfed or were the WB op, i still can get one shot kills on Bison, Polar bears and other large game, but the WB seems made of steel bones.

454 with open sights worked fine for me. One lung, ran about 150 m, dropped dead.
My preferred weapon is the 45.70 lever with the open sights for charging buffs. Carry it with the scope off and only put it on for long shots. The 45.70 lever has a beautiful back ring sight that works a treat on charging anythings. Its permitted for all the grumpy animals.

For mission 9 heartshot on a male with the .454 at 4.11 m. He was slightly downhill and just off straight, open sights worked well. On to mission 10.

Mission 10 done, put a tent up there and get it while its still on the beach. Good set of missions. :D
