New hunting zones, animals, lodge, and mount styles.

Post by Marvelsix »

There is a lot to these and it would be a lot to spread across each suggestion page so I will be posting them all here as they link into each other but if it's an issue I'll cut it all up and post it in each specific thread. Over the past few weeks I've been thinking of things that could be added to expand on both existing features and the addition of completely new features. I'll try to explain each thing as well as I possibly can. To keep this from being an overly giant post from pictures I'll use links instead of directly posting the images.

Starting off there is the tundra and boreal forest reserve, it can feature a large amount of the current animals but in a new and very visually appealing zone. My favorite reserve is Timbergold Trails and part of that reason is the vibrant fall colors are very attractive and make for a very nice change so instead of an arctic tundra like Whiterime it would be something more like this-

Tundra: https://www.nps.gov/lacl/learn/nature/i ... tate=false
Tundra with boreal forest: https://images.fineartamerica.com/image ... harris.jpg

In the tundra itself animals that could be featured are moose, reindeer/caribou, timber or gray wolves, grizzly/kodiak bears, and black bears with most or all going into the boreal forest as well but with the addition of a species of grouse. Something else that can be done also is adding a mountainous area similar to Timbergold Trails that hosts dall sheep but not limiting them to just that region like how they are in Whiterime.

The other area is one that is probably suggested quite often and that is an African Savanna reserve. There is a wide selection of animal species to use for this reserve and has a huge amount of potential. Obviously mostly everyone knows how the Savanna looks but how I believe most of the reserve should look is this as it is the most recognizable to people when they think of the African Savanna-

Animals that can be featured are-Zebra, Kudu, Leopard, Wildebeest, Gemsbok, Hyena, Impala, African/Cape Buffalo, Gazelle, Warthog, Meerkat? African Wild Dog? Cheetah? Lion? Elephant? Eland? Nyala?

Animals with the question marks are ones that can be considered questionable because some people may not support the hunting of things like lions, elephants, and meerkats where as Eland and Nyala are lesser known animals and might not be an appealing species to target for some.

In addition to the Savanna reserve is a new African styled trophy lodge. Piccabeen Bay brought us the tropical lodge that is quite nice and features the new bird plaque and this point leads me to my next suggestion that is a new big cat mount.

The big cat mount can be added to the other lodges for a reason I will explain with a different suggestion after this. This is how the leopard would be mounted. The mount itself could be variations of pedestal or advanced wall mounts such as these-

Now you may be wondering why I used images of a mountain lion/cougar and that brings me to my next suggestion, adding mountain lions. Sorry if you would prefer me to post this in the animals thread, just let me know and I will change this part to link to that thread post instead of having the suggestion here. I say big cat mount can be added to the other lodges as a mountain lion in a lodge based of the African Savanna may be a bit out of place. They could be added to Timbergold Trails with their behavior being similar to wolves in the sense that they hunt, stalk, and track as well as being attracted to the elk calf call and possibly also the deer bleat. They would also behave similar to bobcats in which they are extremely silent and will not sleep often, rarely calls, more often than not will travel alone, and will spook or cause mule deer and elk to trot away. They would primarily stick to the forests near the most northern lake but can also be found up high where the logging trees are and even up where the ptarmigan and big horn sheep roam. New behavior features would involve tree climbing and even hunting the hunter themselves. This last feature if added could be countered through a few different ways. First, a new dog type similar to the ones used for mountain lion hunting to tree the mountain lion but will be less effective the higher the score of the lion and the lower the level of the dog, put simply-high scoring cougar will be less likely to be tree'd by a lower leveled dog and will be more likely to spook and run away than be pushed into a tree, higher level dogs will be more effective at treeing ones with higher scores. Leveling dogs can be based off of either successfully treeing a mountain lion, successful harvests of a tracked/tree'd lion or just plain and simple xp gained for tracking mountain lions. A scent hound could be used in place of creating an entire new dog type and just adding the mountain lion mechanic to it. Another way that mountain lion stalking can be countered is by adding a feature like bells that can be equipped and unequipped, bells would increase the distance that the hunter makes noise, similar to running or even ATVs in Call of the Wild, bells would spook mountain lions or deter them from further stalking the hunter. The downside to this to balance them is that bells would spook all species not just mountain lions and crouching or going prone does not reduce the effect of them leaving you to choose between traveling safely or hunting freely. Cover spray can also be used but will not guarantee freedom from being tracked. Permitted ammo would most likely be that of the deer category. https://i.gyazo.com/b740ebe6028c41b7010 ... 9509a7.png

My last suggestion for this post is the addition of mountain goats, movement would be similar to the ibex where it has a climbing animation and could be featured in the tundra reserve I first suggested.

If you would like me to change this post to where I link each section to a post in a different thread, for example posting the mountain lion suggestion in new animals and having a link to it instead of having the suggestion here then please let me know.

I do not claim ownership of any images used.

It's not whether we want you to post your suggestions in the right categories, but for them being in the right post section makes it a little easier
to have specific subjects where they belong. Having such vast different lists makes it more difficult to decide on what subject you
really want concentrated on and replied about. At least that's the way it was intended to work to keep them separate and organized.
I'm sure somebody will read this entirely, but maybe you should have posted about the way you would like to see it on multiple game features instead?
IMO. have a good day.........................GAS
