Trophy shot issues

When I take a trophy shot its real hard to get the camera angle and the zoom feature to coordinate correctly to take the shot that I want. Is their any way to make the trophy shots easier than it is? Thanks for any replies.

I knew most of the stuff, but haven't tried the hand hold for the ducks. Now I need to do shoot some ducks.
