This type of competition a good idea?

Post by nachthexe »

Exploding Skulls
Bighorn Sheep Single player
Harvest the heaviest Bighorn Sheep with a shot through the skull to win. Competition created by community member ...
Is this type of competition name really necessary. Actually is a competition with this type of parameters necessary?
Nobody would shoot a trophy animal through the body part that carries the trophy out of fear of damaging/destroying it.

Maybe I am a wimp, I really do not like the idea behind this competition, sorry.

And ? No matter what the comp is for , the shot requirement is still , non ethical to me .

Any headshot is unethical, the comps aren't made to be the most ethical hunting in the world.
I can make the same argument saying the long range comps shouldn't be a thing because shooting an animal at 400m is unethical.
Or the wild boar distance comp with the .44

I do not like the name mostly, Exploding Skull is not something that should be used.

I think "ethical" is subjective, and depends on the situation and the skill of the shooter.
If someone can consistently make a accurate head shot, and the end goal is meat, why then would a head shot be unethical?
Consider an average shooter who has a 20% margin of error making heart/lung shots to an expert who has a 10% margin of error making head shots. Which is more ethical?
It's "Tod", with one bloody 'd'!

IMHO it could be ethical if you hunt for a meat to eat, not for a trophy. Zero wound time + undamaged meat.

Well zero wound time, given u hit the brain. if not then your just ruining the face on an animal that might live for a while before it died (irl)
And sometimes irl if you hit the side of the brain on a deer or something they will do some weird stuff.

No this type of competition is not a good idea!!!

People take head shots for two reasons:
1) Poaching with a .22 behind the ear.
2) Not smart enough to shoot at the larger more vulnerable lungs/heart area!!!

Lastly you don't shoot a Big Horn for his weight you shoot a Big Horn for his BIG horns!!!!
So a Weight comp on this animal is silly.....

Weight comps are Fine for Bear!!! Not an animal that can clearly be scored via its antlers / horns....
