meat for the freezer

Post by JD3006 »

I recently did the Red deer mission where we had to put a big hole in a red with a slug so a woman didn't want to buy the meat.. ''not very ethical but ok'' then we had to shoot one hart and lungs as she still wanted meat.

I think a good mission would be for a proper and realistic Cull plan for the food market.

Any deer species but has to be killed via a neck shot i.e the neck vertebra. to keep as much meat edible as possible.

so each shot deer within a time period or hunt earns 'X'-ems / gms $

I think it needs to be for each animal instead of for a collection as neck shooting is a difficult shot in this game.
and if your willing to play on 1 hunt for 3 hours to shoot ten neck shots for example.. you've earn the $'s

The idea of this hunt is one a lot of reserve managers love. You are culling out specific animals, or a specific subset of the species. Culls IMO are either wanting to thin the herd down or a hunt to get a specific buck who is past prime removed. Most RL reserves have specific hunts for culling, where nearby hunters are recruited. If the hunter fails to get the animal(s) in question or takes an animal not specified, they aren't asked to return.

My idea of a cull series of missions goes like this: (Using Whitehart Island as an example, but other reserves are also capable of handling something like this as well with a little bit of planning and modification. Sitka deer, Moose and Dall Sheep with Snowshoe Hare as the pre-cull animal for example in Whiterime Ridge. Artic Fox as the predator arc, and you could even add in Bison as a 4th arc.) You unlock all of the main arcs by completing Mission #0. Each arc can be completed independently, but must fulfill any rules set in them. In other words, you work your way up the arc...

Mission #0: Some pre-cull mission that thins the numbers of an animal also found on the reserves, but not of the "desired" species. (Harvest 10 Turkey in Whitehart Island with any permitted weapon, any number of trips, for example.) Completing this mission unlocks the Whitetail, Blacktail, Roosevelt Elk and Predator arcs.

Whitetail Deer arc:
Mission #1a: Harvest 3-5 WT bucks scoring <100 on one reserve with any permitted weapon, any number of trips. (No WT bucks larger on that trip is allowed.)
Mission #2a: Harvest 3-5 WT bucks scoring 100-130 on the same reserve with any permitted weapon, any number of trips. (No WT bucks larger or smaller on that trip is allowed.)
Mission #3a: Harvest 6-8 WT does on the same reserve with any permitted weapon, any number of trips, at least 2 animals killed on each trip. (Only does allowed on the trip. Any buck and the hunt is rejected. Other species can be harvested, though.)
Mission #4a: (Reward Hunt #1) Harvest a single WT buck, any score, any permitted weapon on the same reserve. (You took the animals on the first Reserve Manager's list, so as a reward he gives you a chance to take any buck on the reserve. You are allowed only one buck on this trip!No other animals may be taken, no other non-recovered animals!) (This is the simulate an actual reserve and the limits they would have.)

Blacktail Deer arc:
Mission #1b: Harvest 3-5 BT bucks scoring <100 on one reserve with any permitted weapon, any number of trips. (No BT bucks larger on that trip is allowed.)
Mission #2b: Harvest 3-5 BT bucks scoring 100-130 on the same reserve with any permitted weapon, any number of trips. (No BT bucks larger or smaller on that trip is allowed.)
Mission #3b: Harvest 6-8 BT does on the same reserve with any permitted weapon, any number of trips, at least 2 animals killed on each trip. (Only does allowed on the trip. Any buck and the hunt is rejected. Other species can be harvested, though.)
Mission #4b: (Reward Hunt #2) Harvest a single BT buck, any score, any permitted weapon on the same reserve. (Same rules as WT rewards but for BT instead.)

Roosevelt Elk arc:
Mission #1c: Harvest 3-5 Elk bulls scoring <100 on one reserve with any permitted weapon, any number of trips. (No bulls larger on that trip is allowed.)
Mission #2c: Harvest 3-5 Elk bulls scoring 100-250 on the same reserve with any permitted weapon, any number of trips. (No bulls larger or smaller on that trip is allowed.)
Mission #3c: Harvest 6-8 Elk cows on the same reserve with any permitted weapon, any number of trips, at least 2 animals killed on each trip. (Only cows allowed on the trip. Any bulls and the hunt is rejected. Other species can be harvested, though.)
Mission #4c: (Reward Hunt #3) Harvest a single Elk bull, any score, any permitted weapon on the same reserve. (Same rules as WT rewards but for Roosevelt Elk instead.)

Predator arc:
Mission #1d: Harvest 3 Coyotes with any permitted weapon, any number of trips on the reserve.
Mission #2d: Harvest 3 Bobcats with any permitted weapon, any number of trips on the reserve.
Mission #3d: After completing the WT arc, BT arc and Roosevelt Elk arc you are rewarded with an additional trophy hunt. Take any WT, BT or Roosevelt Elk on the reserve with any permitted weapon. You are allowed just one single animal on the hunt. You may NOT leave non-recovered animals behind. (This is your TROPHY hunt! Be careful what you shoot here, as it's always going to be with you!) :)

IRL: Reserve managers usually have a number of "cull" hunters they call on. Or they may give a business partner, relative or friend a chance to be a cull hunter for a few days. They are generally guided by either the manager himself or one of the reserve guides. Specific animals are pointed out for the cull hunter to harvest. He either makes the harvest or doesn't. His future on returning to hunt the reserve depends on his ability to harvest the cull animal(s) specified. (Generally a "reward" hunt is a trophy hunt at reduced rates. Seldom free... These reserves make their money by "selling" trophy hunts. So a "reward" hunt is potentially lost revenue.)

I realize this might be a bit hard to implement. But this is an ideal "cull hunt" approach that simulates RL culling techniques. It could add a new level of "realism" to the game, simulating RL practices.
