Varmints! Fish, Fur Bearers

Post by BearJohnson »

Hey guys/gals!

Bear Johnson here.

Although I have only been playing for a week, I LOVE this game!

IRL I am an avid Varmint Hunter - I also lend my skills with a .22 to the local farmers and land owners to rid them of pests.
(Farm Lands with barns would make an excellent hunting area as well) but that is for another post.

That in mind...

New critter suggestions:

Jack Rabbits
Prairie Dogs! (cities of burrows like the rabbits in game)
Squirrels (in trees AND ground)
Feral Dogs & cats (coy dogs as well as wild family pets chase deer)
Pigeons
Rats
snakes (from rattle snakes to pythons - as per Florida infestation)
Russian Red Boars
Razorback Hogs
Raccoons (opens up coon hunting with hounds)
Alligators

to name a few...

"Help the land owner get rid of pests" missions/competitions could be easily added.

also while I am here...
FISH - In Vermont, USA they actually used to have a "Northern Pike Rifle Season", and Carp/Alligator Gar bow hunting - TONS of fun!
Bow hunting those darn Asian Carp that jump out of the water is a GREAT way to hone your bow skills!

ALSO...
Fur Bearers - hunting and TRAPPING fur bearers for profit! Award Gm$ for furs! (Em$ for Members?) Racoons, Rare Fox (silver), Beaver, Ermin & Minks, etc...
Selling hides in general - good game mechanic (IMHO) - again Members ONLY... perhaps a "Fur Bearer license"

Just a few random thoughts.

Thanks for reading!
I may be a noob... but I still have fun!
Trigger time = FUN!

I am a huge varmint hunter as well. I have my own farm so I frequently shoot them off by back deck. All that said I really dont think varmint hunting would be all that fun as a video game. What makes it fun is being outside & actually shooting. The sun, the wind, the smell of burnt cordite. Plus the sadistic streak in me kinda gets a kick out of seeing how they go down when I am lobbing gopher bombs at them. In a video game you will get none of that feedback. You click the mouse, here a bang & the citter goes down. I could see that getting repetitive & boring. Just my opinion.

I would dearly love to see bow fishing though. Back home in PA that was almost a daily activity for me & some of the most fun there is to be had with a bow.

SoftShoe, as in all things computer game based...
IRL is much better for the experience!
For instance... in game, the critters don't "cry out" when wounded.
NOTHING will make shivers go down your spine like a rabbit screaming...
Remember... wound a rabbit, call a coyote! (who needs electronic callers when there are a plethora of Jack Rabbits around?)

IRL you get that all to familiar copper taste when gutting your prey.

I digress... :-)

I think my "lack of ethics" is showing.

You SIR! are a bad influence me thinks.

I like that. Glad to meet ya!
