I just bought the heavy recurve. I'll try it first since i'm trying it in a competition.

Trust me, you definitely will, a 420 elk is going to jump out to you every 1000 bulls ;)

Well, I just shot 6 bulls. All short distances. Not sure I like the bow. It doesn't shoot as flat as I had hoped. I can imagine how weak the longbow is, if this is the fastest recurve. No where near as flat shooting as the Python and it's considered the weakest compound.

Don't use recurve in frontal shots, only use recurve when you have an angle to hit both lungs, without hitting the shoulder blade.

You sure? I believe all my shots were frontal shots. However, you can see I was really close for all of them but one and even it was under 20yds.

It has plenty of power. It just doesn't shoot as flat as I was expecting. Not that I have to. It's not hard to get close. It's nice to have an option on bears which are hard to get close to. With more experience with the bow I can get to know the holdover for all shots. Just not now. I'll need to work on it.

I may use the Python for the competition tomorrow.

I meant that for the normal recurve, with heavy recurve you can go for frontal shots, but with normal recurve you cant.

No way am I going to type that out again. Lucky for you guys. You won't have to read my rambling.

The Heavy Recurve unfortunately does not shoot flat at all, contrary to how it seems it should be. If you’re looking for taking shots beyond 25m, the normal Recurve will handle that better, just with weaker penetration
