Re: Not 375, but 348 medium bore winchester?

Post by Dubitabilus »

The performance of the .375 WIN is comparable to the 35 REM & 30-30 WIN, on paper, and we already have the 30-30 WIN Lever Action Rifle.
The Winchester model 1873 - the model the 30-06 SPRG Lever Action Rifle is inspired by - was offered in the .38-55 (the black powder predecessor to the .375 WIN) so that is the closest equivalent to what is being suggested.

Perhaps the 348 WIN is a better choice, to get the medium bore rifle we're looking for?
Aside from the more recent .338 Marlin Express, the .348 Winchester is possibly the closest lever action caliber that existed comparable to the .30-06 SPRG.

This would match the species list provided above and possibly offer similar ballistics in-game.
Technically, it would require the introduction of the extremely rare and unique Winchester Model 71 rifle since this is the only platform offered in .348 WIN.

Keep in mind, these are just minor detail that affect aesthetics and do not introduce unique avenues of game play.
I'm all for a new lever gun but we have a lever gun suitable to each species "tier" in game, with two overlapping each other already (.405 WIN and .45-70 GOV'T).

Perhaps if EW is feeling really nostalgic they'd introduce another classical firearm

Ok thank

But i Don't think the 375 win and the 30-30 is not coparable
the Diameter of the warhead of the 375 is 9,5 mm and the 30 30 is 7,62 mm I think
as the warhead is larger it makes more degat to the square mm on the game

But the 30-30 is faster than the 375 and is also lighter
which doesn’t mean the 30-30 is more powerful

That’s why I said the 375 Winchester is as powerful as the 9.3x62 but I misspoke :?

I should have said that it was heavier is faster than the 9.3 but the 9.3 has a smaller warhead ( of 2 mm but its count anyway)
and the 375 has a slower and heavier ball which makes it has a good stopping power like the 9.3 and the heavy balls

For the cartridge cases the 9.3 is 62mm so more powder and the 375 is 55mm so a little less powder

And from my own experience having a 375 (and knowing a person who took two 12-horn red deer) for me it remains a caliber quite similar to the 9.3
An inconvenient of the 375 c is the range of the shoots exceed the 150 meter it loses a lot of power but inferior to this distance we are almost sure to make a hit provided to know how to shoot
