Re: Hunting Spear
Central American indians used a similar weapon I think called the Atlata or something similar.
I would only support this weapon if we could get the same hunting outfit that dude is wearing!

Re: Hunting Spear
I guess there should be two options for a spear. One from wood, stone and animal skin, just like as on the photo, and another will be hightech, carbon plastic, laser sharpened etc. At least this approach works for EW with muzzleloaders.

Re: Hunting Spear
Oh we still do it in Germany. I recently bought a new spear actually.
The only difference is, that we mostly take game with spears on driven hunts.
Mostly with dogs in the thicket. But we don't throw them. We just stick the boars, when they turn around and fight.

Spends all the gold and money to buy new weapons in the shape of guns.

Re: Hunting Spear
I think that hunting with spears looks pretty exciting, although I don't think I would ever do it. Just doesn't appeal to me. I prefer to shoot my "spear" from a distance

Re: Hunting Spear
I'm not sure about this one, would be fun and different also quiet fun but i'm not sure if this would fit into this game,
its primal but so is the longbow and cableback. Also its not like it would be a bad weapon, this thing probably puts holes the size of a golf ball through animals

Re: Hunting Spear
It would be a great third slot weapon
But I fear that this game wouldn't have the proper mechanics for CQC. Unless...
Unless the mechanics would be implemented in such a fashion that the stabbing spear would be a repeating range weapon with infinite ammo and such a "bulletdrop" it becomes hardly feasable to use beyond a couple of feet and at a five feet mark you hardly cause a scratch on a boar.
I found myself plenty of times right next to a charging animal. Those moments would make great oppertunities for the use of a stabbing spear
Throwing spears are not much of an issue I guess, just the animation... beyond that it's nothing more than the most powerfull "bow" with the crapiest range

Re: Hunting Spear
While I don't see a place for a spear for modern hunting IRL (not because it is not "fun" or "un-doable", but rather because of... lack of reliability and high chance to mess-up something, so to speak in short), but in game, this could be quite fun.
