Re: Calibre Competition (New Voting Options)
I suspect that quite a few here do not fully understand what they are voting for.
The .243 and the 7mm-08 are calibers based on the .308 cartridge.
The .243 is a necked down .308, meaning it offers a smaller diameter and lighter bullet with a .308 shell casing.
The 7mm-08 is also a necked down .308, with a bore size in between the .243 and the .308, using basically a .308 shell casing.
If you do not like the knock down power of the .308, you probably will not like the 7mm-08, if the devs do a decent job of replicating its differences.
I voted for the .243 because that new rifle to me looks like a varmint rifle more than anything else.

Re: Calibre Competition (New Voting Options)
my vote goes to the 7mm-08 i think that a new advansed weapon needs to be as versatile as the drilling combination gun and the light grain round (fox to red deer) its the most handy bullet of the list because if we compare it with the .308 for example i'll need another weapon for varmint but if i go with the 7mm i can hunt almot any animal except for the birds and rabbits

Re: Calibre Competition (New Voting Options)
the poll confuses me with status update. I want to have a rifle that includes foxes. its a species that falls out of my favourite guns most of the time. and some of the more recent guns coudlve done so (6.5 for example) So I vote the one including the foxes...

Re: Calibre Competition (New Voting Options)
I voted for the .243 because I wanted the ability to both fox sized game as well as deer and only have to carry one gun. It looks like the 7 mm-08 is going to win. If the 7 mm-08 includes fox sized game I will be happy with that caliber, but if it does not then all we have is another deer rifle and we have a lot of nice deer rifles already.

Re: Calibre Competition (New Voting Options)
I have a bad feeling that .308 will remain as a peashooter and 7mm-08 is going to be yet another smaller caliber that is more powerful than .308 in this game.RickC wrote:I suspect that quite a few here do not fully understand what they are voting for.

It is more interesting to hunt with a new ammunition, and not those that already have. Selection 7mm-08 round.
