The competition is welcome.Alena Rybik wrote:We wanted to make this a community-centered competition, since players are the ones who are using set-ups all the time so we expect them to know better. We don't want to decide on everything ourselves (and when we do, we get complaints too ) If the community's pick is really a set-up of a low quality, this will be a good food of thought for everyone and we'll probably be more reluctant to make something similar in the future.
But, it should be a competition of "who has the best setup" and not "who has the most prominence and friends".
In that case \m/ has given good suggestion: Anonymous Setups.
Maybe with a preselection of those, which have quickly brought their contribution, without attention to detail, without big words, just threw in something quickly.
And next time with a relatively short vote-time to reduce the effect of self-promotion in a friendscircle.
It is only a constructive criticism and suggestion from me to make it more fair. It is not meant as a nagging

Definitely seems like a popularity contest. That and it seems like people with set ups in the last half of the list have far less votes then set ups in the first half of the list.

Ongeki: Normally i don't make comments after i won something, but this time i have to. "Popularity" you said?! I don't talk about others, but first version of my Whitehart setup was made public on February 7, 2013 (http://forum.thehunter.com/viewtopic.ph ... 74#p389674). Second version was published on September 14, 2013 (http://forum.thehunter.com/viewtopic.ph ... 56#p468456) and, finally, last version on March 14, 2015 (http://forum.thehunter.com/viewtopic.ph ... 66#p677366). I don't tell you how many PMs i sent containing it, completed with full details (like precise coordinates), advises about how to use it, tips and tricks etc. And those PMs weren't sent to my friends only, but to anyone who asked for. So, yes, you are right, is about popularity. Not mine, but my setup!
In a far better note, i want send my gratitude to anyone who cast a vote, not only for me, but for any contestant. All setups are the result of many hours spent on hunting grounds, trying to understand animals' behavior, finding best spots and best methods to get great trophies. Your votes are our reward! Thank you all!

This was a very funny competition and I guess you are the offisial winner JackRbbt, congratulations...! But for me I see it a little differently: I see that 497 people have voted, but only 25 managed to actually vote on the best map, they are the winners...!

PB, you are a winner too (definitely you are in Top 5). And as long as first 5 are the winners, i use a Latin expression "primus inter pares". So congratulations to you too! But the real winners are people who will use our setups...
(I won't get in a polemic with you about "the best map" Any map is "the best" as long it serve well its owner! Of course, assuming that map means setup.... )

Re: Best reserve set-up competition - Voting
Something is intriguing me about Sansaoo's setup here :
http://forum.thehunter.com/viewtopic.ph ... 16#p687216
Above the decoys we can see the number 30, i always assumed that above 24 decoys ( 24 is supposed to be the maximum for a single setup ) it will then split up and appears as 2 different setups with one having number 24 and the other having number 6 reported.
So, is having 30 decoys apparently stacked and grouped together normal, does this effectively stack above 24 ?
Thanks.
