Video competition 4 – theHunter trailer

Create a video trailer for theHunter, featuring the main features of game: stunning scenery, the tension of shooting an animal, action-packed gameplay.

On top of the fame and glory the winner will get there's a first prize of 5000 em$ or a "Pathfinder" Membership Bundle.

The video should:

• Be max 30 seconds long. EDIT: You can extend the duration a bit if you can justify it with enough action. The trailer should not be boring to watch, which is sometimes the case with longer trailers.
• Feature the multiplayer mode, beautiful scenery, variety of animals
• Be posted on YouTube

The video shouldn't contain:

• Excessive use of the GUI elements
• Excessive use of the HunterMate

The video must not contain:

• Offensive language or content
• Copyrighted material such as music or images

The winners will be selected by the dev team at Expansive Worlds AB. The winning videos will be posted on our social channels.

You submit your entry by posting it as a reply to this post.

Deadline for this competition is 14th of May 2014. The winners will be announced on 21st of May 2014.

We reserve the right to not select winners if the contributions don't live up to the right standard. If a contribution contains profane/offensive language and/or copyrighted material it'll automatically be disqualified.

It's a good point, thanks. We've set the 30-second-limit because we don't want the trailer to be too long and boring to watch.

We've discussed it internally and decided to give you a bit more of freedom, I've edited the announcement accordingly.

If you make a clip, with "action-packed gameplay", you can put a lot of footage in 30 seconds. Few shots of the scenery in between, it is possible.

That's true but if you want to make a real trailer 30 sec is not enough. If you just want to make an action clip 30 sec is fine.

Hello everyone,

Here is my trailer video for the competition. It was a long and hard work to do it, so i'd like to thanks natsuko for his outstanding support and help. I know that my video is much more long than 30 seconds but it wasn't enough for the song i used and all the sequences i wanted to show. I hope this won't be a problem.

If i'm not selected because of the music (melodysheep - Our Story), it's ok. I bought the tune at http://melodysheep.bandcamp.com/ so i technically didn't break any rules of the contest.

[EDIT] People asked me about some details on my movie, here are few answers:

• I use Fraps for non-compressed records (the simple sunrise you see at beginning is nearly 350gb)
  Then i import/edit all records on Sony Vegas Pro (not a big fan of the complex transitions, i use simple effects)
  I render the entire movie (non compressed) from Sony Vegas and use Virtual Dub for the H.264 codec compression (multipass and multithreading with CUBA)
  It took me around 30 hours to do the movie

I added the High Quality on Youtube for better rendering!
Be carefull, the HQ version needs at least a 20mb connection speed for 1080p.
