Canines survive with low health

Post by HooCairs »

Game mode: SP (MP not checked)

Description:
By experience, animals that have only 10-30% health left will die after a certain time.
Canines appear to make a difference. I had red fox, coyote and arctic fox that all had below 30% health left, and all of them did not die within the next 20 minutes real time.
Either the animal's behavior towards low health is wrong/different, or the indication on the blood spot for how much health is left is wrong.

Steps to reproduce:
A bad shot must be placed at a canine, probably easiest from a longer distance with a .223.

Additional information:
Red fox shot with .223 AR at Hirschfelden - last blood spot said "10-26%"
Coyote shot with .223 AR at Logger's Point - last blood spot said "20-36%"
Arctic fox shot with .243 Bolt Action at Whiterime Ridge - last blood spot said "10-29%"

lung/intestine shots not deadly

Post by Granti »

happend to me now twice in a short amount of time and a few times earlier on.

nr1 was an arctic fox, shot with buckshot, hm read lungshots but only a few bloodtracks appeared, health went down to under 25percent but the fox didnt die anyway. had to place another two shots. hunt time on this animal shows 1h33m

nr2 happend just now, red fox on brr. intestine shot with .223. health went down till 25%, same as above, didnt die. hunt time on the red fox 36min

on both occacions i did spook the foxes in the attempt harvesting them.

while glassing them they seemed fine and not wounded.

an indicator might be that they were also always hit at another - not lethal - part of the body, like tail and legs.

summary: foxes do not die after shot in lethal parts. they also dont bleed out like with a bodyshot once dropping under 50%

I think you describe the same problem as reported here: https://forum.thehunter.com/viewtopic.php?t=74629

Reported in July 2016... Can happen with all canines.
