Bison tracks disappearing!

I shot a bison,a few moments ago, and started tracking its blood and fleeing traces. Althought i could see the red (in my case) domes of the traces in a distance,most of them disappeared right after seeing and walking towards them. Not just the colored domes but even the traces. There was nothing on the huntermate and on the ground at the exact spots where i had seen the domes.
