I was lying on a rock for 15 minutes real time, I knew a ram was around (had spooked him earlier), heard his footsteps all the time, but couldn't see him. After all that time he suddenly appeared from behind a rock and I was lucky to have him broadside for an attempt with the longbow. I didn't even try to get between 31-35 meters, because it would've been too difficult and I knew the chance for a vital hit was small. Got a bit lucky and of course the bow practice on the shooting range paid off. And the patience!

Well, there are still 36 hours to go and I fear my longbow distances won't hold until the end.

It gets frustrating when your hitting goose after goose airborne with the longbow and they don’t drop. I’ve probably hit 8 so far that haven’t dropped, so I just started shooting them down with the .22 after they don’t drop. You tell me what was wrong with this shot?

That's weird... I have shot a few geese with the longbow already - they always dropped instantly. Bug???

I have had more than a few not drop with the longbow lately it even happened to TK on stream with the new geese but he was using a compound bow.

Maybe it’s just hitting wings and only looks like body. You can never really tell. These birds are all wing! Haha

Yep thanks Marc. 57m quartering away fleeing. Even I was surprised on that hit.

That bird had a 57m longbow hit and dropped it at 177m with the .22. I thought that was bad luck considering both distances would contend for the lead. But then I just did this.

104m longbow hit and finished off with a 178m .22 shot. Ugh
