I read few long post, in this thread, about attempt system, skill, luck etc. My personal opinion is that attempt system is the best thing possible for this kind of competition. And number of attempts being determined / limited by HS is OK, as long as HS is the only comparable measure between hunters (hunting style, favorite weapon, favorite species etc are making us very different).
I wont start telling about every trophy i got, during the competition, but on my first hunt at Logger's Point i found a track of a herd of muleys and just beside that a track of a big male. Tracking him, avoiding the herd which was always into my path, luring and finally shooting him meant skills (or experience). Score: 215.512 pts. Ten minutes after, just when adrenaline stopped pumping, i heard a call from a whitetail. I called him back, he came straight to me and was the easiest kill possible. Pure luck! Score: 194.172 pts. (For two full days, my friend John and i tried to find a nice whitetail for John's competitions. We used all tricks we know and the biggest one was around 170 pts. So, clearly, you need to be lucky!). And my turkey... I spotted him from far, very far, and i shot him, knowing that is a big one, by looking at his body shape and length of the beard, without having his score on binoculars. Shot was from 100+ meters, the score 69.377 pts. So, skills (or experience) again. That i spent 16 hours at Hirschfelden, trying to find a decent fox and the biggest one was 20 something, it's another story.. (UN)Luck again! So, sometimes it happens to be lucky, sometimes not, sometimes you need skills, sometimes no matter at all how skilled you are. These are for everyone! But, if you start 5-6-7 hunts in 2 hours, then the chances to be "more" lucky than a hunter who plays those 2 hours, trying to find a trophy, are bigger. That's why i like and i support the attempts system!

I've now had a chance to check the database. Your blacktail entry was as follows:

158.659 | http://www.thehunter.com/grizdude/score/?id=17036507

You posted the wrong URL when you made your entry. The URL you provided was for a mule deer, which was disqualified. You could argue that I should have looked through your hunt history to find the correct URL but unfortunately I didn't have time for that last night. I've reinstated your position on the leaderboard (and update the URL for blacktail deer) on the basis that this was a genuine oversight.

Didn't get a chance to hunt at all this week unfortunately. Woulda been nice to have a go, maybe next time.

2 things I've noticed: Bronze and Pewter are still named 2nd and 1st on the OP. And the Gold and Silver trophies are in the wrong order on the leaderboard.

As for the discussion about attempts, glad to see that people are still ablt to have discussions on the internet without getting angry :) and you all have some very interesting points.

Edit: Grats to the winners btw :D
