[E] button not working

Hello,

After a few years I'm back to go hunting.
Installed the game in just one go, working ok, even all my bought weapons and other items are still there.

Before I spend money again I'm playing the free game for a while to see if it works 100%.

One BIG error is that the [E] button is not working to go up the ladder of a tower.
Remap that button to for example NumPad-[0] or something else makes no difference.
It gives the same result.

As soon as use [E] in front of a tower the game stalls.
No mouse movement, not any button on the keyboard is working.
All I can do is push escape button and start all over again.

Suggestions to solve this?

Sound like something is corrupted with the game, i would make a fresh installation, if possible make it with Steam client, is better at patching and have a option to check for wrong or missing files.

Is this one of the permanent towers or a deployable one?

There is a new bug I have had twice now with a permanent tower. After entering it, my entire GUI was gone. No info in the lower right, no spotting info, no scope reticle. Wonder if this is related.

You could try a few things to see if that makes a difference:
- try different tower / reserve
- change game language to English
- equip something else than the huntermate before pressing E

I tried different permanent towers on different areas.
I'm going straight from startpoint to a tower.

If I'm standing in front of a hut (cabin) I can use [E] with no problems.
Same goes for a remapped key, keypad-[0].
It tells that I not own a cabin jet and I can go further with my playing.

I think it's only the towers that give me a problem.
And indeed, there's not any button that works anymore, not even the mouse.

I want to get full license again, but not if the game has this bug.

Reinstall makes no difference.

Chosing another language makes no difference.

Before use of [E] change: Empty handed, a rifle, a huntermate, a revolver, a rangemeter, nothing makes any difference.

And everytime after using that stupid [E] button I have to walk from startpoint to a tower again for a test.
I'm getting really tired now...

Maybe I should buy the new version 2019?
Is there a trail version too?

My specs are:
Asus Z170-A motherboard
Intel I7 6700
16GB DDR4
nVidia GeForce GTX970 4GB DDR5

Should be enough to handle it.

You are walking up to the ladder, right? You need to be right in front of the ladder.

There is no "2019" version. This game is updated continuously by the launcher. The current version in the upper left corner of the launcher should be "v819 | v2019021901" which means the last update was on Feb. 19 (2 weeks ago).

When you started playing again recently, did you install the game new, or update it from an old installation from years ago? It doesn't look like you've played since 2014, and the game has changed significantly since then. If there was an old installation on your computer, it's possible that something from that really old version is causing the problem.

Yes, right in front of the ladder and this is a new install.
4 days ago I downloaded the launcer from theHunter.com site and started it.
Installation did go very well.

In 2016 I build my new computer with fresh new windows install so no old Hunter stuff.

The are now two different theHunter games?
The one I have is theHunter Classic.
But theHunter: Call of the Wild™ - 2019 Edition is there too.
Seems to be that I can only buy that version without or with addon packs included.

Correct me if I'm not understand this all, indeed, I'm missing 5 years of Hunter gaming.
Time flies by... too fast for an oldie.

theHunter: Call of the Wild is an entirely different game than theHunter: Classic, which is what theHunter was back when there was only one game.
What you could do, since apparently you do use Steam already, is look for theHunter: Classic and install it over there, since the updating and patching process is much more streamlined. Maybe that does the trick.

Can you post a picture of your game settings? In the launcher go to Settings (upper right corner) and then Game Settings. Just wondering if something might stick out. You can at least try with vertical sync turned on or off. That has caused isolated issues in the past too.

UPDATE:

Installed the game on computer of my wife.
It's a bit slower so it took a while to get it done.

Result: exacly the same issue.

Using E button in front of ladder causes a game crash.
See for more info above, it's exactly the same story.

Vertical sync on or off, no luck.

Because my wife uses a totally different computer than I do the settings are different too.
Even the resolution is.
All setting on low.
Same story.
