and you were helping by jumping down my throat by not using John's solution first. if you will re-read my OP, i was just posting my experience and to see if others were having the same problem. when something like this has come up over the last 9 years, ew has always do something to fix it,....well sooner or later they did...i'v known Fletchette for some years and respected him for the same amount of time and was not trying to belittle him or his solution...

BTW everyone, it's not my solution, I just made a video/tutorial about it 1 1/2 years ago when Web patching was a really big and common problem. Interestingly, that video has almost 11k views now, so it's obviously a problem that affects a lot of people.

Tony, I don't know why it didn't work for you, but I did it this afternoon (about 1pm US Central time) and it worked fine for me. I broke the game last night by starting the launcher after reading this thread, and got the 11mb loop as reported above. I didn't worry about it last night, assuming there would be a fix this morning. After starting the launcher about noon today, it started a full download (6.xx GB). I didn't want to wait the 2-3 hours it takes my internet to do the full download, so I did the Steam copy, and it worked.

The only difference may be that I didn't delete the Web launcher that was already installed and download a new one, I just deleted the game and download folder, and copied the game folder from Steam. I think you're correct that it wasn't an update, but perhaps some kind of launcher or server bug that unfortunately destroyed the game folder. Once fixed, none of the files have new dates, and the game version still says May 31.

Yes John I know, and it always has worked. However the problem was fixed for me before 1pm central time which made a full download, and I just let it run rather than copying Steam Game file. So when You did it, Launcher was fixed already. You know me well enough that you know I tried everything.
